During the financial year, Word On The Kerb CIC delivered performances in prisons, hostels and drug and alcohol rehabilitation settings. These activities gave people affected by imprisonment, homelessness, addiction and recovery access to live theatre and spoken word in places where opportunities to experience the arts can be limited. The performances encouraged engagement, reflection, conversation and participation, and brought cultural activity directly into the communities and institutions being served.
The company’s stakeholders included staff, managers and volunteers at prisons, hostels and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, as well as the people using those services. The company consulted with staff, managers and volunteers when arranging performances, including discussing suitable dates, locations, audiences and practical requirements. These discussions helped shape how and where the performances were delivered so that they were appropriate and accessible for the people being served.
