Company activities and impact

DURING THE FINANCIAL YEAR, HEADSPACE FC CIC DELIVERED A RANGE OF COMMUNITY FOOTBALL AND MENTAL HEALTH ACTIVITIES ACROSS STOKE-ON- TRENT AND SURROUNDING AREAS. WE PROVIDED REGULAR, NON-COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL SESSIONS FOR ADULTS AGED 18+, WELCOMING PEOPLE OF ALL ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE LEVELS. DURING THE YEAR, WE DELIVERED 157 SESSIONS, SUPPORTED 248 MEMBERS AND FILLED 4,047 PARTICIPANT SPACES. OUR SESSIONS PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE, MEET NEW PEOPLE, BUILD FRIENDSHIPS AND TAKE TIME AWAY FROM THE PRESSURES OF EVERYDAY LIFE. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AND SUPPORT REMAINED CENTRAL TO OUR ACTIVITIES. WE WORKED WITH LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH ORGANISATIONS AND USED OUR SESSIONS AND PLATFORMS TO RAISE AWARENESS, REDUCE STIGMA AND SIGNPOST PARTICIPANTS TOWARDS APPROPRIATE SUPPORT. WE ALSO RAISED £6,862 THROUGH SESSIONS AND EVENTS TO SUPPORT LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH GROUPS. ALONGSIDE WEEKLY FOOTBALL, WE ORGANISED SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND FAMILY EVENTS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS. THIS INCLUDED TWO ADULT AND CHILD EVENTS DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STOKE CITY FOUNDATION, INVOLVING 60 ADULTS AND 60 CHILDREN, AS WELL AS THREE SOCIAL EVENINGS ATTENDED BY 84 MEMBERS. THESE ACTIVITIES PROVIDED POSITIVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILIES AND MEMBERS TO SOCIALISE, CONNECT AND TALK IN A RELAXED, NO-PRESSURE ENVIRONMENT. WE ALSO ORGANISED A CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH AT THE BET365 STADIUM, INVOLVING 38 MEMBERS AS PLAYERS AND ATTRACTING 315 SPECTATORS. THE EVENT RAISED £4,682 FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES AND PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRING MEMBERS, FAMILIES AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY TOGETHER AROUND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING. OVERALL, OUR ACTIVITIES HAVE BENEFITED THE COMMUNITY BY INCREASING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, REDUCING SOCIAL ISOLATION, CREATING SUPPORTIVE FRIENDSHIPS AND PROVIDING A SAFE AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT WHERE PEOPLE CAN CONNECT AND FEEL PART OF A COMMUNITY. OUR APPROACH IS BASED ON THE BELIEF THAT FOOTBALL CAN BE USED AS A POSITIVE VEHICLE FOR IMPROVING WELLBEING, ENCOURAGING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH AND HELPING PEOPLE ACCESS FURTHER SUPPORT WHEN NEEDED.
