Planning & Operational Preparation: Maintaining the organisational structure, legal compliance, and community partnerships required to prepare the CIC for future operational activity and food surplus redistribution. Community Engagement Strategy: Assessing local food security needs and laying the groundwork to reconnect with community networks, local suppliers, and volunteers upon resuming full activity. Zero Financial Burden on the Community: Managing administrative oversight at zero cost to the community, ensuring the non-profit structure remains intact to serve local residents when operations restart.
1. Stakeholders Consulted: Local residents, beneficiaries, and service users across Edwalton and surrounding areas (West Bridgford, Tollerton, Ruddington). Local retail partners and supermarkets supplying surplus food. Community partners, local authorities (Rushcliffe Borough Council), and volunteers. 2. Consultation Methods: Informal, ongoing face-to-face feedback from community members visiting the food hub. Feedback gathered via social media platforms (Facebook page) and local community group channels. Direct communication and operational check-ins with local surplus food supply partners. 3. Key Insights & Outcomes: Stakeholders emphasised the growing need for non-judgemental, accessible food support without formal referral requirements. High demand was identified for fresh produce, chilled goods, and household staples alongside bakery/dry goods. Feedback directly informed the expansion of storage capabilities (freezers/refrigeration) and distribution times to better accommodate working families and individuals.
