| 3. | ON GOING ACTIVITIES |
The principal activity of CCTV Licensing Services Ltd during the year under review was to continue preparations for the delivery of specialist training, certification and compliance services throughout England and Wales, working with CCTV Data Compliance Inspectorate (“the Inspectorate”).
The Inspectorate has continued to undertake extensive research and development activities within both the public and private sectors in preparation for the planned relaunch and expansion of its services.
During the year, significant investment has continued in the development and upgrading of CCTV and video surveillance training courses, certification programmes and compliance documentation. This work includes the transition of training, assessment and certification processes to a digital format, designed to provide a robust and auditable compliance framework for use by CCTV and video surveillance installers, operators, organisations and, where appropriate, the criminal justice system.
The Company is also in the process of working towards ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems. This forms part of the Company's wider strategy to establish appropriate governance, accountability, risk management and responsible use of artificial intelligence within its developing digital compliance and assessment systems.
As part of this development programme, the Company is preparing a Digital Compliance Assessment and Certification Framework for CCTV and video surveillance installations. The proposed system is intended to enable installers and relevant organisations to complete structured digital assessments of installations, supported by appropriate documentation and audit trails, against applicable data protection, surveillance and compliance requirements.
Subject to satisfactory assessment, the system is intended to provide certification evidencing that an installation has been assessed against the applicable compliance criteria at the date of assessment. The framework is being designed to assist installers, operators and organisations in demonstrating appropriate standards of accountability, governance and regulatory compliance to help ensure footage is legally viable for court evidence.
The Company's training, certification and compliance framework is being developed with reference to applicable UK legislation, regulatory requirements and recognised standards, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, relevant guidance issued by the Information Commissioner's Office, and other applicable standards and guidance relating to CCTV, video surveillance, data governance and emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
The continuing investment in digital assessment, certification and AI governance represents an important element of the Company's preparations for the relaunch of its services and the development of a recognised compliance framework for the CCTV and video surveillance sector.
