COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BEDFORD AMATEUR REGATTA C.I.C.

Company Number: 11383926 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2025

Company activities and impact

The CIC company was formed to take over organisation and operation of the annual one day rowing racing event known as Bedford Amateur Regatta with effect from 1st January 2019. Racing is side by side in eights and fours over the 1200 metre course on the River Great Ouse through the picturesque Town Centre and Embankment of Bedford. The 2025 Regatta , the 159th , took place on Saturday 10th May and the weather and conditions were kind to us. As in recent years demand has remained strong for entries from Rowing Clubs , Universities and Schools across the country in all categories from Junior 14 to Novice and Seniors. Another well run event was enjoyed by competitors, supporters ,parents and local rowing community , plus the general public who have free access to The Embankment and Finish Line at the Suspension Bridge. We were also pleased to have the Mayor of Bedford in attendance to present prize tankards to the winning crews. The Accounts show a positive position with net surplus £1372 before corporation tax , which indicates well for the continuity of the event into the future.

Consultation with stakeholders

As usual considerable pre-event planning is required for the event requiring contact with stakeholders as follows:- - Bedford Borough Council re the event generally and usage of public areas along the river , and more particularly the Embankment and Meadows where regatta enclosure, tentage, and facilities are based. -British Rowing Organisation with whom the event is affiliated and whose rules of racing we operate under. -The local and broader rowing community who provide competitors , umpires, marshals, and helpers.
