1. Accounting policies
Basis of measurement and preparation
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102 Section 1A — Small Entities, issued by the Financial Reporting Council, and with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 as applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime. They are prepared under the historical cost convention and are presented in pounds sterling, which is the functional currency of the company. The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis.
Turnover
Turnover is the amount derived from the provision of goods and services falling within the company's ordinary activities, stated net of value added tax, trade discounts and rebates. Turnover is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have passed to the customer, or, in the case of services, when the service has been performed.
Debtors
Short-term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any provision for amounts considered irrecoverable. A provision is recognised when there is objective evidence that the company will not be able to collect all amounts due.
Creditors
Short-term creditors are measured at transaction price. Creditors falling due after more than one year are measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Cash at bank and in hand
Cash comprises cash in hand and deposits repayable on demand, less overdrafts repayable on demand.
Taxation
The tax charge represents the sum of the tax currently payable and any deferred tax. Current tax is the expected tax payable on the taxable profit for the period, using tax rates enacted or substantively enacted at the balance sheet date, together with any adjustment in respect of previous periods.
