During the financial year, ClimbOut CIC delivered the ClimbOut 2025 Festival in the Peak District, providing opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to participate in outdoor climbing, develop skills, improve wellbeing and build supportive social connections. The festival brought together 366 participants, including attendees, instructors, volunteers and partner organisations, and offered 215 climbing course places alongside workshops, talks and community activities. The company focused on reducing barriers to participation through accessibility measures, equipment loans, subsidised places and 36 bursary places for people facing financial hardship, including bursaries for people from racialised minorities and people with disabilities. In partnership with Plas y Brenin (the national mountaineering centre for England and Wales) the company delivered training and assessment courses for 15 LGBTQ+ people relating to qualifications as indoor climbing and rock climbing instructors and summer mountain leaders. The company's activities were funded through a combination of festival ticket income, financial support from partner organisations, including the British Mountaineering Council and Patagonia and Plas y Brenin, and donations. enabling it to keep the festival accessible and provide targeted financial assistance to participants who might otherwise have been unable to attend. These activities supported the company's objective of creating a more diverse, accessible and inclusive climbing community and workforce and increasing participation in outdoor recreation amongst groups that are traditionally underrepresented within climbing.
ClimbOut CIC actively consulted with its stakeholders throughout the year, including festival participants, volunteers, instructors, partner organisations and members of the LGBTQ+ climbing community. Feedback was gathered through participant surveys, diversity monitoring, instructor feedback and ongoing engagement before and after the festival. This consultation informed the development of the festival programme, accessibility arrangements and participant support measures, including enhancements to social activities and efforts to improve inclusion for underrepresented groups. Stakeholder feedback also demonstrated high levels of satisfaction, inclusion and skills development amongst participants, helping the directors evaluate the impact of the company's activities and ensure that future provision continues to meet the needs of its beneficiaries.
No remuneration was paid to directors in recognition of their role as directors. Two directors who are qualified climbing instructors and who provided climbing instruction services during the festival were paid for two days’ work at the same daily rate paid to all the climbing instructors.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
