Principal activities of the company

General description of the company’s activities DobroDIY CIC was established to support refugees and migrants, particularly people seeking sanctuary, to overcome barriers, rebuild confidence, and become active participants in society, including through pathways to self-employment and community engagement. During this reporting period, the company focused on establishing its operational model and initiating activities across three interconnected areas: Community engagement and belonging Creating accessible spaces for connection, peer support, and rebuilding social networks. Skills development and access to opportunities Delivering practical training to support individuals in navigating the UK labour market and local systems. Pathways to income and independence Supporting individuals to begin exploring income-generating opportunities through employment, freelancing, and community-based initiatives. All activities were designed to be low-barrier, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the lived experiences of displaced communities. During this reporting period, delivery methods evolved in response to needs identified through participant engagement. Activities such as employability training, community-based workshops, and programme development contributed to the company’s original objectives of supporting integration, wellbeing, and community participation. For example, collaboration through the Meet Me Community Club provided accessible spaces for social connection, informal peer support, and cultural exchange, aligning with the company’s initial focus on community events and integration. These activities also supported well-being through increased social connection and a sense of belonging. Similarly, the development of the “Belonging Through Action” programme supports individuals in designing and delivering community initiatives, contributing to the organisation’s aim of enabling community participation and empowerment.
