During the financial year, Yew Tree Farm School continued to grow and develop its specialist provision for children and young people with special educational needs. The Independent Special School continued to increase pupil numbers, reflecting growing demand for the provision and continued confidence from Local Authorities and other commissioning partners. The school remained focused on providing a highly personalised, nurturing and practical learning environment for pupils with a range of SEND needs. During the year, work also began on the transition of our Alternative Provision to a separate secondary site in Ashford. This forms part of the organisation’s longer-term development plan, allowing the main site to become increasingly focused on the Independent Special School. The longer-term intention is for the main site to accommodate up to 24 pupils within the Independent Special School, subject to the required Ofsted and regulatory approval for the proposed material change. The development of the Ashford site will also allow the Alternative Provision to continue to grow separately, with a clearer distinction between the two areas of provision. The organisation continued to invest in its facilities, staffing and educational offer to support sustainable growth and to meet the needs of an increasing number of children and young people with SEND.
