During the financial year, Nurture Collective Projects CIC delivered accessible community-based services for parents, babies and young children in Birkenshaw and the surrounding areas. The company’s activities included funded antenatal education, baby massage, postnatal yoga and birth-trauma support. These services provided practical information, professional guidance, opportunities for gentle movement and safe, welcoming spaces where parents could meet others experiencing similar stages of family life. Funding was used to keep services free or affordable, contribute towards the cost of an accessible community venue, engage qualified tutors and specialist practitioners, and support the coordination and promotion of the programmes. These activities benefited the community by improving access to antenatal and postnatal support, increasing parents’ knowledge and confidence, supporting physical and emotional wellbeing, and helping families build valuable connections with other parents in their local community.
The company’s principal stakeholders were parents and carers using its services, expectant and new parents, babies and young children, session tutors and specialist practitioners, funding organisations and representatives of the community venue. Stakeholders were consulted through conversations during sessions, direct messages and emails, booking enquiries and feedback provided to tutors and the project coordinator. Attendance levels and booking patterns were also reviewed to understand which services, subjects and session times were most useful to local families. In response to this feedback, the company reviewed session content and timings, improved the information provided before booking, and adapted activities to better reflect the practical and emotional support requested by parents. Feedback was also used to help create a welcoming environment, maintain free or affordable access and shape the planning of future community programmes.
