Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C runs creative programmes for underrepresented young people aged 16–25, using fashion, design and creative education as tools to build confidence, develop employability skills and provide young people with an authentic platform to express their voices. We support young people facing barriers including lower socio-economic circumstances, unemployment, mental health challenges, disabilities, and social exclusion. Through our creative programmes, we provide a safe and inclusive environment where young people can develop skills, explore their identities and take ownership of their future pathways. For the period 2025-26, we have: Delivered x3 creative youth development programmes: National Lottery Identify You Creative Programme (IYCP) Cohort 1, NEXTUS Lambeth IYCP, and National Lottery Identify You Creative Programme (IYCP) Cohort 2. Through these programmes, we delivered 20+ creative and employability workshops, engaging and supporting 45+ young people across London. These sessions focused on developing key skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, confidence and workplace readiness. Supported young people to overcome barriers to employment, education and wider participation in society through our Identify You Creative Programme. Across our programmes: 92% of young people reported increased confidence and belief in themselves. 81% believed they would have greater job opportunities as a result of the skills and knowledge gained through Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C. 92% felt more confident applying for jobs and attending job interviews. 95% reported that they can now communicate effectively within a workplace environment. 95% stated they know how to flourish within a team environment towards a shared goal. 82% felt more confident stepping into leadership opportunities. Created safe spaces for young people to express themselves, share their experiences and feel heard. 98% of participants reported that Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C provided a safe space for self-expression, with 100% of participants within our National Lottery IYCP Cohort 1 reporting that they felt they had a voice and that their voice was heard. Within our National Lottery IYCP Cohort 2, there was a 100% increase in young people feeling that their voice is valued and heard. Continued to prioritise young people experiencing disadvantage and systemic barriers. Across the programmes delivered during this period, 89% of participants were from ethnic minority communities and 30% identified as having additional needs, including mental health challenges, disabilities or SEND. Our programmes also supported young people experiencing unemployment, with 100% of participants within the NEXTUS Lambeth programme being NEET and 89% of participants within National Lottery IYCP Cohort 2 identifying as unemployed. Delivered targeted support through our individual programmes, including: National Lottery IYCP Cohort 1, where 100% of participants reported improved confidence presenting professional information to groups and successfully learning conflict resolution skills. NEXTUS Lambeth IYCP, where 96% of young people reported improved adaptability and problem-solving skills, and 96% reported knowing how to flourish within a team environment. National Lottery IYCP Cohort 2, where there was a 133% increase in young people feeling confident stepping into leadership roles, alongside 100% of participants reporting improved workplace communication and teamwork skills. Through our work in 2025, Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C has continued to advance education, skills development and employability opportunities for young people who face barriers to progression. By combining creative expression with practical workplace skills, we have empowered young people to build confidence, develop their talents and make informed decisions about their futures.
Our stakeholders include the young people we support through our creative programmes, our Advisory Board members who provide guidance and challenge to our organisation, and the wider network of partners and organisations that support our delivery. Our young people are consulted through feedback surveys following engagement with our workshops and programme activities. This allows us to understand their experiences, measure the impact of our programmes, and identify areas for continued improvement. In 2025, feedback from our young people demonstrated the positive impact of our work, with 98% of participants reporting that Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C provided a safe space to express themselves, 92% reporting increased confidence and belief in themselves, and 95% stating that the skills and knowledge gained through Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C are important to share with more young people. Feedback also showed that 92% of young people felt more confident applying for jobs and attending interviews, supporting our continued focus on developing employability skills. We continue to work with our young people and make use of this direct feedback to shape our programme delivery, ensuring that our activities remain relevant to the needs of the young people we serve. As a result, we have continued to focus on providing a safe creative environment alongside developing key skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership and workplace readiness. Our Advisory Board consists of experienced professionals who support and challenge the organisation’s direction (organisations such as Apple, Lloyds Bank, local secondary schools), alongside young advisors who provide insight from the perspective of the communities we serve. Advisory Board members are consulted through meetings and ongoing communication regarding organisational developments, projects and strategic decisions. Our Advisory Board continues to support and challenge Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C’s direction, providing valuable guidance on our programmes and wider organisational development. During 2025, we held an in-person advisory board meeting and one online Advisory Board meeting and continued to engage members through email correspondence, where updates were shared and questions were discussed. Through ongoing consultation with our stakeholders, Trash Gxng Academy C.I.C continues to ensure that its programmes are informed by the experiences of young people and supported by the expertise of our wider network.
