SOLAR INVESTMENT GROUP LTD

Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 June 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is recognised at the fair value of consideration received or receivable for goods and services provided in the normal course of business and is shown net of VAT and other sales-related taxes. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have passed to the buyer and the amount of revenue and related costs can be measured reliably. Revenue from contracts for the provision of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion when the outcome can be estimated reliably. Where the outcome cannot be estimated reliably, revenue is recognised only to the extent of recoverable expenses recognised.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Assets in the course of construction or installation are not depreciated until they are available for use. The leasehold property additions at the reporting date were not yet available for use and no depreciation has therefore been charged.

    Other accounting policies

The company is a parent undertaking. The company has taken advantage of the exemption under section 399 of the Companies Act 2006 from the requirement to prepare consolidated financial statements on the grounds that the group headed by the company qualifies as small. These financial statements therefore present information about the company as an individual undertaking and not about its group. Stocks are stated at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost comprises direct materials and, where applicable, direct labour costs and production overheads incurred in bringing the stocks to their present location and condition. At each reporting date an assessment is made for impairment. Cash and cash equivalents are basic financial assets and include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks and other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities. The company applies Sections 11 and 12 of FRS 102 to its financial instruments. Financial instruments are recognised when the company becomes party to their contractual provisions. Basic financial assets and liabilities are initially measured at transaction price and subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Financial assets and liabilities are offset only when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously. The costs of short-term employee benefits are recognised as a liability and an expense, unless those costs are required to be recognised as part of the cost of stock or fixed assets. The cost of unused holiday entitlement is recognised in the period in which the employee's services are received. Rentals payable under operating leases, including lease incentives received, are charged to profit or loss on a straight-line basis over the term of the relevant lease unless another systematic basis is more representative of the consumption of economic benefits.
