During the year, Shifaa Healing Hearts Counselling CIC developed and delivered culturally responsive, community-based counselling and mental health support for adults, with a particular focus on people from Global Majority communities and residents experiencing barriers to accessing appropriate psychological support. The company provided individual counselling and psychotherapy, assessment and therapeutic support through community-based provision in West and North-West London. The service aimed to improve access to affordable and culturally informed mental health support, reduce isolation and distress, and strengthen wellbeing and belonging. The company also undertook community engagement, outreach and partnership working to make psychological support more accessible to people who may experience cultural, financial or practical barriers to mainstream services. Grant funding received during the year was used for the delivery and development of these community-benefit activities. Any funding remaining at the year end remained allocated to the purposes of the funded projects and future delivery in accordance with the relevant grant conditions.
The company’s stakeholders included clients and community members using the service, counsellors and psychotherapists, trainees, community organisations, referral partners and funders. Stakeholder views were gathered through client feedback, assessment and review discussions, conversations with clinicians, team meetings, supervision and ongoing communication with community and referral partners. Feedback informed the development of the service, including accessibility, culturally responsive practice, referral and allocation processes, and how support was delivered within community settings. The company continued to adapt its provision in response to identified community need and feedback from those using and supporting the service.
