Accounting policies

Significant accounting policies
Statement of compliance
These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006.
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of land and buildings and certain financial instruments measured at fair value in accordance with the accounting policies.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling which is the functional currency of the company. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below.
Going concern basis
The director believe that the company is experiencing good levels of sales growth and profitability, and that it is well placed to manage its business risks successfully. Accordingly, they have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus they continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
Turnover
Turnover is recognised at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for services provided in the normal course of business, and is shown net of discounts and VAT.

Revenue from a contract to provide services is recognised in the period in which the services are provided.
Taxation
The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from net profit as reported in the income statement because it excludes items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and it further excludes items that are never taxable or deductible. The companys liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting end date.
Intangible fixed assets other than goodwill
Research expenditure is written off against profits in the year in which it is incurred. Development expenditure incurred is capitalised as an intangible asset only when all of the following criteria are met:
  • It is technically feasible to complete the intangible asset so that it will be available for use or sale;]
  • There is the intention to complete the intangible asset and use or sell it;
  • There is the ability to use or sell the intangible asset;
  • The use or sale of the intangible asset will generate probable future economic benefits;
  • There are adequate technical, financial and other resources available to complete the development and to use or sell the intangible asset; and
  • The expenditure attributable to the intangible asset during its development can be measured reliably.
  • Expenditure that does not meet the above criteria is expensed as incurred.
Amortisation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets over their useful lives on straight line basis.

Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses.

Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases.

The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale proceeds and the carrying value of the asset, and is credited or charged to profit or loss.
