Accounting policies
Company information
Ampla Consumer Finance Limited (the “Company”) was incorporated on 9 August 2017. The legal form of the Company is a private company limited by shares and incorporated in the United Kingdom. The Company's registered office address is shown on page 1 of this report.
1.1
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on a historical cost basis. The preparation of financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 requires the use of critical accounting estimates and judgement by management, in applying the accounting policies.
1.2
Going concern
The directors have carried out a robust assessment of the business's emerging and principal risks, and have concluded that they have a reasonable expectation that the Company will continue in operation and meet its liabilities as they fall due for the foreseeable future. The directors therefore believe it is appropriate to prepare these financial statements on a Going Concern basis.
1.3
Turnover
Turnover comprises interest charged on loans receivable, and income from customer fees. Interest income is calculated using the effective interest rate, which discounts estimated future cash flows to the carrying amount of the financial asset. Income from customer fees is recognised over the expected life of each loan.
1.4
Intangible fixed assets other than goodwill
Intangible assets acquired separately from a business are recognised at cost and are subsequently measured at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment losses.
Intangible assets acquired on business combinations are recognised separately from goodwill at the acquisition date where it is probable that the expected future economic benefits that are attributable to the asset will flow to the entity and the fair value of the asset can be measured reliably; the intangible asset arises from contractual or other legal rights; and the intangible asset is separable from the entity.
Amortisation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases:
Development costs
5 years on Straight line basis
1.5
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are stated at historical cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. The carrying values of any tangible fixed assets are reviewed for impairment when events or changes in circumstances indicate that the carrying value may not be recoverable.
Depreciation for tangible fixed assets costing in excess of £5,000 is charged so as to allocate their historic cost less their residual value over their estimated useful lives, using the straight-line method. The estimated useful lives are:
Computers
2 years on Straight line basis
Office equipment
2 years on Straight line basis
Tangible fixed assets costing less than £5,000 are fully depreciated in the year in which the expenditure is incurred.

1.7
Pension Costs
Contributions to the Company's defined contribution pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the year in which they become payable.
1.8
Leased Assets
The company has no assets which are financed by leasing agreements that give rights approximating to ownership. As such, all leases are treated as operating leases. Their annual rentals are charged to the profit and loss account on a straight-line basis over the term of the lease.
