The company's registered number is 11553482 and its registered address is 31 Elms Crescent, London, SW4 8QE. The principal activity of the Company is TV drama production. 2 Accounting policies The principal accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been applied consistently to all periods presented, unless otherwise stated. 2.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements The financial statements have been prepared under the historic cost convention unless otherwise specified within these accounting policies and in accordance with Section 1A of Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland' (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006. The preparation of financial statements in compliance with FRS 102 requires the use of certain critical accounting estimates. It also requires management to exercise judgement in applying the Company's accounting policies. The areas involving a higher degree of judgement or complexity, or areas where assumptions and estimates are significant to the financial statements, are disclosed in the notes. The Company's functional and presentational currency is the Pound Sterling. 2.2 Foreign currency translation Foreign currency transactions are translated into the functional currency using the spot exchange rates at the dates of the transactions. At each period end, foreign currency monetary items are translated using the closing rate, non-monetary items measured on a historical cost basis are translated using the exchange rate at the date of the transaction, and non-monetary items measured at fair value in a foreign currency are translated using the rate at the date when the fair value was determined. Exchange differences arising on the settlement of monetary items or on translating monetary items at rates different from those at which they were translated on initial recognition are recognised in the Income statement for the year. Gains and losses relating to borrowings and cash and cash equivalents are presented within 'other finance income or finance costs', with all other foreign exchange gains and losses presented in 'other operating income or expenses'. Moonriver TV Ltd Notes To The Financial Statements For the year ended 31 December 2025 2 Accounting policies continued 2.3 Turnover Turnover is stated net of VAT. Turnover represents the value of services provided under contracts to the extent that there is a right to consideration and is recorded at the value of the consideration due. Revenue from contracts for the development of television projects is recognised depending on the nature of the ownership of the underlying rights to the programme being produced. Where the company owns the underlying rights the revenue is recognised only on delivery of the programme. Where the underlying rights are owned by a third party and the company is producing the programme on a 'work-for-hire' basis then the revenue is recognised with reference to the stage of completion of the programme. 2.4 Government grants Government grants are recognised once there is reasonable assurance that the Company will comply with any conditions attaching to them and the grants will be received. Government grants are accounted for under the accruals model and are classified as either a grant relating to revenue or a grant relating to assets. Grants relating to revenue are recognised in Income statement on a systematic basis over the periods in which the Company recognises the related costs for which the grant is intended to compensate. A grant which becomes receivable as compensation for expenses or losses already incurred are recognised in income in the period in which it becomes receivable. Grants relating to assets are recognised in Income statement on a systematic basis over the expected useful life of the related asset. Where part of a grant relating to an asset is deferred, it is recognised as deferred income and not deducted from the carrying amount of the asset. 2.5 Pensions The Company operates a defined contribution plan for its employees. A defined contribution plan is a pension plan under which the Company pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the contributions have been paid the Company has no further payment obligations. The contributions are recognised as an expense in the Income statement when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown as accruals in the Balance sheet. The assets of the scheme are held separately from the Company in independently administered funds. 2.6 Taxation The tax expense for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income statement except that a charge attributable to an item recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. In this case, the tax is recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively. Moonriver TV Ltd Notes To The Financial Statements For the year ended 31 December 2025 2 Accounting policies continued 2.6 Taxation continued The current income tax charge is calculated on the basis of tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the Balance sheet date in the countries where the Company operates and generates income. Deferred tax balances are recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed by the balance sheet date, except that:
Deferred tax balances are not recognised in respect of permanent differences except in respect of business combinations, when deferred tax is recognised on the differences between the fair values of assets acquired and the future tax deductions available for them and the differences between the fair values of liabilities acquired and the amount that will be assessed for tax. Deferred tax is determined using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the Balance sheet date. 2.7 Tangible fixed assets Tangible fixed assets are initially recognised at cost. Cost includes the purchase price and any costs directly attributable to bringing the asset to the location and condition necessary for it to be capable of operating in the manner intended by management. Subsequently, tangible fixed assets are measured using the cost model or the revaluation model. Under the cost model, tangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Under the revaluation model, tangible fixed assets are carried at a revalued amount, being their fair value on the date of revaluation less any subsequent accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses, provided that the fair value can be measured reliably. Revaluations are made with sufficient regularity to ensure that the carrying amount does not differ materially from that which would be determined using fair value at the end of the reporting period. Gains and losses on revaluation are recognised in other comprehensive income unless losses exceed previously recognised gains, in which case excess losses are recognised in the Income statement. All tangible fixed assets are considered to have a finite useful life. Depreciation is calculated to allocate the depreciable amount of tangible fixed assets to their residual values over their estimated useful lives on the following basis:
If factors such as a change in how an asset is used, technological advancement, or changes in market prices indicate that the residual value or useful life of an asset has changed since the most recent Balance sheet date, the Company reviews its previous estimates and, if current expectations differ, amends the residual value, amortisation method or useful life, accounting for this as a change in an accounting estimate. Investments in associated undertaking are held at cost less accumulated impairment losses. 2.10 Fixed assets investments Investments in associated undertakings are stated at cost less any provision for impairment. 2.11 Creditors Short-term creditors are measured at the transaction price.
