This is in accordance with the objects contained in the Memorandum and Articles of Association the charity's governing document. |

| - To represent the interests of the Third Sector as widely as possible |
| - To deliver specific projects that support local activity |
| Policies adopted to achieve the objectives of the charity |
| The directors work with the staff team and interested parties to develop a plan in line with recognised quality standards. The aim of the plan is to ensure the aims and objectives of the charity are adhered to with milestones being achieved with work undertaken to a high quality and reflecting the need of the Erewash community. We follow the principles laid down by NAVCA the national organisation supporting infrastructure organisations. |
| EVA has formal complaints and whistleblowing procedures. Certain activities are also directly influenced by external quality systems and audits for funders and partners. |

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
Public benefit |
| Erewash Voluntary Action (EVA) exists to create stronger, healthier and more connected communities across Erewash. We work alongside local people, voluntary organisations, statutory services and businesses to improve health and wellbeing, reduce inequalities and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. |
| As the borough's Council for Voluntary Service (CVS), we provide the infrastructure that enables charities, community groups and volunteers to flourish, whilst also delivering a wide range of services that directly support local residents. |
| Supporting Communities |
| We empower communities by helping people come together, identify local needs and develop solutions that make a lasting difference. Through our community development work we: |

REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES |
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2026 |
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES |
| Working Together |
| Everything we do is built on partnership. We work closely with the NHS, local authorities, community organisations, businesses, funders and residents to ensure support is joined up, responsive and centred around the needs of our communities. |
| By combining strategic leadership with practical frontline delivery, EVA helps create stronger organisations, healthier people and more resilient communities. Every conversation, project, volunteer opportunity and partnership contributes towards our vision of an Erewash where everyone can access the support they need, feel connected to their community and have the opportunity to live well. |
Contribution made by volunteers |
| EVA has many volunteers whose work supports the charity through community support services and practical help and support to the community of Erewash. Volunteer activity is monitored and reported at least annually to the appropriate funders. No EVA core activity is wholly dependent on volunteers or work placements - volunteer contributions, work experience placement and temporary jobs are to provide additionality to the charity. |
| Limited donations in kind were received during the accounting year ended 31st March 2026. |
| Volunteers are the foundation of our work as without them there would be no local groups requiring infrastructure services. We keep a wide range of statistics as recommended by the National Council For Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), using V-Base and VOLIFE software we know how many new volunteers join us each year, how many referrals we receive each month and monitor waiting lists. We also try to monitor the number of hours given by our volunteers. Many of our services would cease without the contribution from these amazing volunteers. |

FINANCIAL REVIEW |
Financial position |
| The charity received income from charitable activities totalling £682,372 during the year compared to £1,451,756 in the previous year. The charity received other income of £68,282 during the year compared to £56,324 in the previous year. The charity received donations of £4,688 during the year compared to £672 in the previous year. There was a deficit of £173,101 for the year compared to a surplus of £189,109 in the previous year. |
| The final outturn for the year is in line with the Board's expectations during what has continued to be a challenging financial environment for the voluntary and community sector. The loss of the Derbyshire County Council Infrastructure funding had a huge impact on the charity but was budgeted and planned for. Demand for our services has remained high whilst funding opportunities continue to be increasingly competitive and often short-term in nature. |
| The organisation has continued to review and adapt the way in which services are delivered, ensuring that resources are used effectively whilst maintaining high-quality support for individuals, community groups and partner organisations across Erewash. The Board remains committed to securing sustainable funding for both our infrastructure services and direct community delivery, working closely with existing and prospective funders to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organisation. |
| There have been no major changes to the charity's financial management policies during the year. Designated Board members continue to work alongside the Chief Executive on significant financial matters and strategic developments where appropriate. |
| Social, environmental and ethical considerations continue to be taken into account when making significant investments and when managing grant funding on behalf of partners. All reserves held, including designated and restricted funds, are included within the charity's published annual accounts. |
| I have finalised the annual accounts as Chair and would like to express my sincere thanks to our Treasurer, finance staff and accountants for their professionalism, support and commitment throughout the year. |
Investment powers and policy |
| The Board's investment powers are governed by the Memorandum and Articles of Association, which permit the charity's funds to be invested in such investments, securities or property as may be considered appropriate, having regard to the charity's objectives and responsibilities. |
Reserves policy |
| In accordance with guidance issued by the Charity Commission, EVA's reserves policy seeks to maintain sufficient unrestricted funds to enable the organisation to meet its financial commitments, including staff notice periods and contractual liabilities, recognising the short-term nature of many funding arrangements. |
| The Board aims to maintain unrestricted reserves equivalent to approximately six months' operating expenditure in order to provide financial resilience and enable the organisation to respond to unforeseen changes in funding or operational circumstances. |
| Current undesignated general reserves equate to £283,182 (excluding fixed assets), against a target reserve level of £200,000. |
| Total funds of £1,975,061 include designated funds of £8,000, revaluation reserve of £165,038 and restricted funds of £1,202,899, leaving unrestricted general funds of £599,124. |
| The Board remains satisfied that the charity's reserves position provides an appropriate balance between ensuring financial stability and enabling resources to be invested in delivering the charity's charitable objectives and supporting the communities of Erewash. |

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS |
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2026 |
1. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the revaluation of certain assets. |
At the time of approving the accounts, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Therefore, the Trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the accounts. |
Incoming resources |
All incoming resources are included in the SOFA when the charity is legally entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. |
The charity acts as a fund manager for several voluntary and statutory organisations and income received on behalf of those organisations is kept in separate restricted funds. |
Grants received for capital expenditure relating to assets to be used by the Charity are kept in separate restricted funds. Grants which are provided as core funding and are of a general nature are included within Donations and legacies. Grants to which conditions attach and, for example are provided to deliver a service and, therefore, are similar in economic terms to trading income, are included within 'Charitable activities'. |
"Voluntary" income is received by way of donations, gifts and fund raising events and is included in the statement of financial activities as received. |
Income is deferred when performance related grants are received in advance of the performance or events to which they relate. |
Resources expended |
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Costs not directly attributed to particular headings have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. The allocation of these support costs has been made on the basis of full time equivalent staff numbers. |
No expenditure was incurred on fundraising and we do not employ external agencies nor do we pay any commissions. 100% of all the funds raised come directly into the CVS. Any future plans to change the way in which we raise funds will be subject to discussion with our members and are likely to involve the creation of a separate social enterprise. |
Governance costs are those incurred in connection with the charity's compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements. |
Grants payable are self-help grants paid to other voluntary organisations from specific funds received. |
Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but not accrued as expenditure. |

| Long leasehold | - Over the term of the lease |
| Motor vehicles | - 20% on cost |
| Computer equipment | - 25% on cost and 20% on cost |
| Freehold land is not depreciated. |

| The Charity is exempt from tax on income and gains to the extent that these are applied to its charitable objects. |
Charitable funds |
| Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the directors in furtherance of their charitable objectives unless the funds have been designated for other purposes. |
| Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the accounts. |
| Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the Trustees for particular purposes. |
