OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The charity is established to promote public health by the promotion of spiritual healing for the benefit of the public, by educating and training healers and by ensuring proper standards in the practice of spiritual healing.

While in recent years, the charity has seen a decline in memberships, the number of members however has stabilised to just over 1,000. The long-term aim is to continue recruiting new members, to ensure a stable income so that the charity can meet its objectives. To achieve this, the charity continues to promote itself online with increasing activity to reach a wider audience and to regularly review provision of its training as well as online presence and improve as necessary:
-The online healer training pilot project has now been fully accredited by UK Healers. This will be available

alongside in person healer training as there is demand for both methods of teaching. Online and in person
healer training are fully accredited by UK Healers and comply with their quality standards. The online training
potentially reaches a greater number of students with a greater potential for increasing student and healer
numbers. The Healing Trust has members and tutors in a number of countries already such as Ireland, France,
Germany, New Zealand and the US. Online healer training allows for the greater global reach of promotion of
healing and the training of healers.
-The new online pilot tutor training programme during 2025 trained 9 tutors. By increasing the number of

tutors, the charity will be in a better position to enrol new student members, thereby enabling it to expand its
membership and meet future demand for training.
-The increased online social media strategy in 2025 did not commence until September due to a delay in finding

someone with the appropriate experience. This has not as yet increased new student members enough to
compensate for the loss of members through age.
-The charity has increased the frequency of its newsletter which is sent out to members and the public who
have opted in to receive them ensuring a paper copy goes out to those who do not have an email account.
-A revised booklet to explain energy healing and its benefits to the public has been published for distribution at
healing centres. This has also been translated into Welsh.
-There are leaflets to promote the healer training to clients who use centres.
-The charity's Facebook page now has 9.2 thousand followers, and several healing centres and regions now

run their own Facebook pages which successfully attract new clients and an interest in healing. The charity also
has an online presence via Instagram and YouTube, the latter with 48 newly created videos in 2025 available to
watch.
-The website, newly launched in the previous year has been improved further allowing a greater automation in

the office especially at renewals time. There will be further upgrades of software to allow for a more seamless
integration between the website and database. The charity plans to implement a members forum with an area
specifically for students during 2026.

In addition to the above, the charity continues to undertake activities to promote spiritual healing to the public and improve public health through access to spiritual healing:
-Healers registered on the website are available for one to one healing and can send distant healing when
requested by members of the public.
-The charity has also launched a distant healing service for requests that come via the office. Volunteers then
send distant healing on a daily or weekly basis depending on need.
-The Healing Trust Facebook page runs a live online weekly distant healing sessions, where followers can join
with the healer sending healing to all members of the public who have requested it.
-Healing centres provide healing at the 18 regional healing centres (including two new ones) where healers

continue to offer regular face to face healing sessions for the public. Demand for healing is increasing in many
centres.
-Promoting research - Healer members continue to participate in ongoing research by Northampton University

as to the efficacy of non-contact (distant) healing on participating members of the public. The research is in the
process of being written up and results should be released in 2026.
-Raising awareness of matters associated with healing via regular newsletters, the website, healing centres,
Healing Awareness Week and social media activity.
-Tutors providing free online introductory workshops for those interested in training as a healer.
-CPD events for members of the charity as well as for members of the public.

-Participating in Healing Awareness Week each year with in person and online events such as talks and group
healing open to members of the public.
-Increasing awareness and credibility of spiritual healing by offering healing at local health and healing events.

The promotion of public health through healing is at the heart of all activities. The Healing Trust continues to ensure the highest standard of spiritual healing through its provision of training and education. Activities to support this include:
-Educating and training healers, continually reviewing and improving the Healing Trust's training programme

and delivery of training courses so as to maintain the highest standard of training and healing. This has
resulted in developing a fully accredited (UK Healers) online Healer Training program which complies with their
quality standards. This allows healer training to reach anyone regardless of their geographical location.
-Providing support groups for healers and students through structured mentoring and regular practice
meetings both face to face and online.
-Encouraging a culture of collaboration and the sharing a variety of knowledge and self healing and healing
experience through CPD events and related conferences.
-Tutors work to National Occupational Standards with regular monthly support meetings for trainee and

qualified tutors, disseminating updates in training information as well as acting as a forum for sharing and
feedback.
-Ensure representation and co-operation with Government approved bodies responsible for the development

of Voluntary Self-Regulation for Healing. This is via UK Healers, our Healing Professional Specific Body (PSB)
who are the verifying body for Healing. They sit on the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
(CNHC).
-Contributing to the regulatory work of UK Healers, as an important member organisation.

The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake, and when considering what constitutes public benefit.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
A number of strategy meetings has led to creation of a 3 year strategic plan. Included was a SWOT analysis with The Healing Trust being a leading healing organisation with a pedigree history and its 18 healing centres coming high on the list of strengths. Weaknesses identified were succession planning and declining membership. Opportunities identified included increasing promotion of The Healing Trust online, increasing the number of healing centres (aim for 2 in year, 1 achieved already), the development of shorter courses for those who want to become a healer but not on a professional basis, and training the trainer for delivering online healing courses.

With the objectives of the charity being to promote public health and promote spiritual healing for the benefit of the public, the achievement of these objectives can be measured via public participation in the activities of the charity, along with membership numbers and donations.

During 2025, there were several indicators that the charity has been achieving its objectives regarding the promotion of public health and spiritual healing:

-Healers have continued to offer free distant healing and remote support to those in need who have requested

healing through the charity's website and the office. Donations for distant healing have increased by 45% from
£2.8k (2024) to £4k (2025).
-The charity's 18 healing centres throughout the UK offered face to face healing to the wider public via drop-in

sessions. This is offered free of charge to members of the public, although a voluntary donation towards the
running of the charity is welcomed. Donations by the public for healing in 2025 increased to £33.3k (up by
£2.6k or 8% on 2024), indicating that there is a continued increasing awareness and demand by the public for
spiritual healing.
-Student membership has increased in 2025 to £11,311 an increase of £878 or 8% on 2024. However,

membership income in total is in decline because of the composition of members who have a reduced
membership fee based on age or a membership duration of 30 years plus.
-A weekly 'Facebook live' distant healing meditation, held by one of the Charity's trustees, has offered a further

opportunity for members of the public to request distant healing for those in need. The Facebook page now
has 9,200 followers.
-The Healing Trust participated in Healing Awareness Week from 5th to 11th May 2025, during which events by

members were offered. There was promotion of in person healing sessions at centres, information on healing
via social media posts onto Facebook pages and promotion of the 'Facebook live' distant healing meditation.
-The charity's participation in research by Northampton University has contributed to the promotion of healing

especially for the members of the public who are participating. When the research paper is publicised this will
promote The Healing Trust and contribute to evidence of the efficacy of healing for health.

A cohort of newly trained tutors will be launched in 2026. They include one based in New York, two in Scotland and one in the South West of England, expanding the existing reach of our charity. Retraining of established tutors (as needed) is ongoing through monthly trainee tutor / tutor meetings. Two tutors have come out of retirement, been given appropriate training for the new 200 hour training and are now offering courses and mentoring of students.

With the investment in the charity's website and office systems and increased promotion of the charity online we continue to hope membership numbers will increase in future years. This time frame assumes that the website and increased online presence and activity generates increasing interest from the public. We are looking at other options such as aiming promotional material at younger people.

Office staff will be available to develop new ways to promote the charity once their time is freed up by the ongoing automation of processes.

Report of the Trustees
for the year ended 31 December 2025

Overall, the achievements of regional centres, healers and the engagement of the public with the charity's activities, old and new, are demonstrating that the charity can look positively to the future as it seeks to grow and reach out to new members of the public. None of these activities could be achieved without the support of our volunteer healer members, and the trustees wholeheartedly thank them all for their hard work and commitment to The Healing Trust. The trustees are also very grateful for our tutors' continued support and maintenance of high standards of teaching. It is gratefully acknowledged that trustees themselves past and present have made a substantial contribution to the day to day running, monitoring, improvement, legal compliance and future planning of The Healing Trust.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
The results for the year are shown on pages 11-13. 2025 generated a net loss of £55,227 (2024: net loss £40,833). 2025 saw a drop in membership numbers and also membership income (2025: £58,135, 2024: £59,278). The drop in the value is due to a significant number of older members moving into a lower subscription band for 30 years service or being age 75 years or more. As a membership organisation, membership income is one of the most significant income streams for the charity. As outlined above, the extensive work undertaken over the past year on the new website, increased social media presence and online training program will aid in the recruitment of new students.

It was decided during the 2025 year to return the funds invested with Elsby Wealth Management, due to the increasing risk associated with greater unpredictability of the global financial markets. It was decided that it would be more prudent to hold the monies in fixed rate deposit accounts. During the 2025 financial year, £50,000 was returned from the investment, with the remainder being returned following the year end. During the 2025 year, income from this fixed asset investment and other existing savings accounts totalled £20,589 (2024: £7,445).

Donations overall have decreased against the previous year (2025: £39,974, 2024: £42,758), this due to the variability of one off bequests or other donations. Donations are vital to the charity and the trustees are most thankful for all voluntary contributions received. Donations received at regional centres had increased and accounted for 83% of total donations received. Total donations received by regional centres throughout the year have covered all attributable costs of the corresponding centres. The charity continues to make use of the Government's Gift Aid scheme and during 2025 also made use of the Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme (GASDS) to receive gift aid relief on small donations received at regional centres. Gift Aid is a vital stream of income for the charity and work continues to promote its use amongst our members and donors.

The charity's costs have risen (2025: £190,441, 2024: £166,924). Wages costs have increased due to the increased administrative workload in the office for the newly launched website and GDPR as data storage has been centralised in the office for increased data security. This has necessitated continuing the increase in office space (£4,800p.a.). Increased staff costs also include a new paid role for a training team leader to replace a volunteer who has contributed full time hours on an unpaid basis to run training for the charity for some years. The charity was able to recruit a newly retired tutor who has a wealth of experience in teaching in the adult education sector as well as running her own training business in the past. She has also returned to being a tutor for the charity.

In professional fees, GDPR consultancy cost £11,459 in 2025 against £3,172 for 2024.

The charity continues to look for savings where possible but has had to invest to grow such as investment in further improvement of the website, the new online training for healers, and also for new tutors, the training team leader and increased social media activity.

The strategy of increasing membership and awareness of the charity continues to be the focus to grow these income streams to support a mainly fixed cost base.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
At the balance sheet date, the charity had free reserves of £270,915 (2024: £292,396). In addition to free reserves, the charity has funds of £391,286 (2024: £425,032).

The charity continues to require reserves to support future income reduction, resulting from declining membership numbers and income as well as unpredictable donations and legacies. This is vital due to most significant costs incurred by the charity being fixed costs and not variable with income. In addition to providing security for the charity, the reserves are being utilised to move the charity forward with upgrade and automation of the office systems, tutor and healer training and increased online presence being key. Ultimately, these improvements will create an increase in public awareness, especially of improvement in health through receiving healing, as well as aiming for an increase in memberships and of income.

The charity will continue to review and update its strategic and financial planning as well as risk management for the changes in technology, legal requirements and professional standards using reserves as necessary to implement them. Reserves are required to support the charity through a period of change. The charity acknowledges the significant increase in reserves which requires careful consideration of how best to utilise them. At all times the promotion of public health and raising awareness of spiritual healing to benefit public health will be at the heart of the charity's activities.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Structure, Governance and Management
The organisation is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 14 April 1999 and registered as a charity on 21st November 2002. The company was established under Memorandum and Articles of Association which sets out the objects and powers of the charitable company. In the event of the company being wound up each member is required to contribute an amount not exceeding £10.

Trustees (also company directors) are appointed by existing Board members with consultation and approval of Council at the AGM.

New trustees receive an induction including a copy of the governing document, most recent accounts, Charity Commission guidance, and relevant policies.

Three trustees resigned in 2025. The current Treasurer has now taken on the position of Chair and was appointed in August 2025. Despite a number of calls for a volunteer, no-one has been found to fulfil the role of Treasurer.

The Board meets monthly to oversee governance and strategic decisions. Operational responsibilities may be delegated to sub-committees or paid staff.

The Governance and Ethics Committee formed in 2024 deals with review of Memorandum of Articles of Association and Standing Orders to ensure they are current and fit for purpose. They also deal with maintaining standards, with all concerns, complaints, grievances issuing within or without of the charity; they conduct policy reviews and updates, review agreements, and monitor diversity, inclusion and adherence to Charity Commission Guidance and legal obligations.

The Board has reviewed key risks and maintains a risk register and a risk management action plan to mitigate strategic, operational, financial, and reputational risks.

The Board has updated and issued an updated Code of Conduct during the year as well as revised healing centre manuals with relevant guidance and reviewed a number of internal policies. Professional safeguarding training is to be implemented early 2026 to further the guidance already given in The Code of Conduct.

The Board has reviewed the charity's compliance with General Data Protection Regulation and has implemented changes in the way its healing centres handle their processes of recording and storing client data to assure data privacy, compliance and mitigation of risk. GDPR affects all operational areas of the charity, these are under review and an external consultant is continuing to assist the Board in this respect.

A number of volunteer Teams have responsibility for: strategy, training (healers and tutors), administration, research, social media promotion, events and governance and ethics. Each includes representation from trustees who report to the Board of Trustees.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
The Directors of the company are also charity trustees for the purpose of charity law and under the company's Articles are known as the Board of Trustees of the charity. Under the terms of the Memorandum and Articles of Association the members of the Board of Trustees are ideally required to be members of the NFSH.

The Council of the Charity is involved in the appointments of the charity's Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer. The appointment of new trustees shall be via a Volunteer Vacancy process. A role description determining the necessary skills needed shall be circulated to members and applications for the role invited. Suitable applicants will then be interviewed for the position by members of the Board, Council, and any office staff or other officials of the organisation as deemed necessary.

Every endeavour should be made to recruit from within the organisation. However, should no suitable candidate be found from within the membership for any given vacancy, the trustees may widen the search to include Friends of the organisation or look beyond the organisation. In order to be appointed a trustee if recruited from outside the organisation, the appointee will become an Honorary member, and will serve for an agreed term, not less than six months and not more than three years, extendable by negotiation and agreed by the majority of trustees and endorsed by Council.

New trustees, excepting Honorary Members, to be appointed for a term of three years, with the option of renewing for a further three years if the majority of the Board agrees. Following this second term, a trustee may be elected for a final three years if invited to do so by the Board and the Council.

The Board shall have flexibility to determine the exact nature of the role, experience and skills needed for each vacancy, which may change from time to time in order to effectively govern the organisation.

Induction and training of new trustees
As trustees are drawn from the Healing Trust membership, trustees are already familiar with the activities of the charity before they join the Board of Trustees. Potential trustees normally attend at least one Board Meeting as an observer and meet and speak with at least some of the charity's employed staff before accepting and taking on trustee responsibilities.

New trustees routinely receive copies of the latest accounts; Memorandum and Articles of Association; Standing Orders and the Charity Commission booklet "The Essential Trustee" before taking up a trustee role.

Notes to the Financial Statements
for the year ended 31 December 2025

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, with the exception of investments which are included at market value, as modified by the revaluation of certain assets.

Income
Income is recognised when the trust is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been met. the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be received and can be measured reliably.

Donations and Gifts:
Donations are recognised on receipt. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.

Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise if the the trust has been notified of an impending distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected.

Grants Receivable:
Revenue grants are credited as incoming resources when they are receivable provided for conditions for receipt have been complied with, unless they relate to specific future periods, in which case they are deferred.

Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Intangible fixed assets other than goodwill
Intangible assets acquired separately from an entity are recognised at cost and are subsequently measured at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment losses.

Amortisation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases:

Website design and development - 5 years

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.

Computer equipment - 33% on cost

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued

Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.

Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.

Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The charitable company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the charitable company's pension scheme are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate.

Financial instruments
A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the charity becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.

Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the amount receivable or payable including any related transaction costs.

Current assets and current liabilities are subsequently measured at the cash or other consideration expected to be paid or received and not discounted.

Debt instruments are subsequently measured at amortised cost.

Other financial instruments are subsequently measured at fair value, with any changes recognised in the statement of financial activities, with the exception of hedging instruments in a designated hedging relationship.

Financial assets that are measured at cost or amortised cost are reviewed for objective evidence of impairment at the end of each reporting date. If there is objective evidence of impairment, an impairment loss is recognised under the appropriate heading in the statement of financial activities in which the initial gain was recognised.

For all equity instruments regardless of significance, and other financial assets that are individually significant, these are assessed individually for impairment. Other financial assets are either assessed individually or grouped on the basis of similar credit risk characteristics.

Any reversals of impairment are recognised immediately, to the extent that the reversal does not result in a carrying amount of the financial asset that exceeds what the carrying amount would have been had the impairment not previously been recognised.

Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand and deposits held at call with banks.

Going concern
At the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the trust has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus, the trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
