Compliance with accounting standards
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
Service charge funds held on trust
The company administers service charge monies on behalf of the residents of Coopers Place. In accordance with FRS 102 Section 2 (Concepts and Pervasive Principles), transactions are accounted for according to their substance, and the company does not control the economic benefits associated with these funds.
Under FRS 102 Section 23 (Revenue), the company acts as an agent, not a principal, because service charge monies are legally required to be held on trust under section 42 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 and may only be applied for the maintenance and management of the estate. As a result, service charge income, expenditure and reserves are not recognised in the company’s profit and loss account.
Amounts collected but not yet spent are recognised as trust cash within current assets, with an equal liability to the residents shown within current liabilities. These funds are not available for the company’s own use.
During the year, the company received £4,037.90 of service charge monies previously held by the former managing agent, collected £3,055 of service charges, and paid £4,027 of expenditure on behalf of the residents. At 31 December 2025, £3,065.90 of service charge monies were held in a trust bank account.
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
