We continued to operate according to our governing document and statement of community benefit. In this financial year, we completed our Arts Council NLPG funded programme and submitted an evaluation to the Arts Council. We spent this year consolidating and maintaining support for our community via regular, peer and volunteer-led activities on our forum and Zoom: workshops, panels, an online book club and peer critique groups. We applied for funding of £5040 from ALCS Grants for the Arts for a community conference (A THOUSAND STORIES) to take place in Birmingham in 2026 and conducted initial project planning and partnership building activities in preparation for that conference. We had our logo re-drawn for better functionality across the internet (£75). We hosted a networking, listening and catch-up event in Birmingham for former mentees on 5th July 2025. A director attended the Equality in Children’s Publishing event at MMU on November 15th 2025 representing Megaphone Writers CIC.
We consult on a daily basis with our community of benefit - people of colour writing for children - via our free forum, Megaphone Community. We consult the group about what activities they would like to see, for example, the content of our planned Conference. We respond to requests for workshops, information and so forth on an ad hoc basis. When relevant we also use methods such as Impact and Insight and Google Forms to collect anonymous feedback and input.
