Company activities and impact

Our Purpose BattingHub CIC is a community-focused indoor cricket and sports facility based in Fareham, Hampshire. Our purpose is to make cricket, physical activity and high-quality coaching more accessible to children, young people and adults within our local community. As a Community Interest Company, BattingHub aims to operate a sustainable sporting facility while ensuring that our activities create a positive and measurable social impact. We believe sport can play an important role in improving physical and mental wellbeing, developing confidence and life skills, creating friendships and providing young people with positive opportunities within their community and we are helping to achieve this.. Our Activities BattingHub provides indoor cricket facilities, coaching and development opportunities for players of different ages and abilities. Affordable indoor cricket net hire for individuals, families, clubs and community groups. One-to-one and group cricket coaching delivered by qualified coaches. Junior cricket coaching and holiday cricket camps. Opportunities for young people who are new to cricket to experience the sport in a welcoming and supportive environment. Development opportunities for existing club cricketers who want to improve their skills and confidence. Access to modern cricket training technology, including bowling machines, video replay and performance-analysis equipment. Working with cricket clubs, coaches, schools and other organisations to increase participation in cricket and physical activity. Providing opportunities for coaches and young people interested in sport to gain practical experience and develop their skills. Organising cricket events and activities designed to bring together players, families, clubs and the wider cricket community. Community Benefit BattingHub CIC is providing benefits beyond simply operating a commercial indoor cricket facility. A key objective is to reduce barriers to participation. Access to specialist cricket facilities and individual coaching can be expensive, particularly for young players. BattingHub is providing affordable opportunities and, working with community organisations and partners to provide additional access for people who may otherwise struggle to participate. Our coaching focuses not only on technical cricket development but also on confidence, teamwork, resilience, communication and enjoyment of physical activity. Supporting Children and Young People Children and young people are an important focus of BattingHub’s community activities. Through coaching sessions, holiday camps and organised cricket activities, we provide a safe and positive environment where young people can remain active, make friends, develop new skills and build confidence. We recognise that sporting development is different for every child. Our aim is therefore not solely to identify or develop elite players. Success may mean helping a talented young cricketer progress towards representative cricket, but it can equally mean helping a child pick up a cricket bat for the first time, make new friends or develop the confidence to join a local cricket club. Supporting Grassroots Cricket BattingHub CIC also aims to strengthen grassroots cricket across Fareham, Portsmouth and the wider Hampshire area. By providing year-round indoor facilities, players and clubs can continue training when outdoor facilities are unavailable or weather conditions prevent cricket from being played. We aim to develop relationships with local cricket clubs and other organisations so that BattingHub complements and supports existing grassroots cricket. Where appropriate, we encourage participants to progress into local clubs, helping to support sustainable participation in cricket across the area. Technology and Accessibility BattingHub provides access to cricket technology that individual players and grassroots clubs may not otherwise be able to access easily. This includes bowling machines, video replay and batting-analysis technology. Our objective is to make modern coaching and performance tools available to grassroots players rather than restricting this type of analysis to professional or elite environments. Technology can also make coaching more engaging for young people by allowing them to see their performance, understand improvements and take greater ownership of their development. Wider Social Impact BattingHub CIC intends to continue developing partnerships with schools, cricket clubs, community organisations, local authorities, charities and other organisations that share our aim of increasing participation in sport. We particularly want to explore opportunities that support people who may face financial, social or other barriers to participating in organised sport. As the organisation develops, we intend to increase the number of community programmes, supported sessions and partnerships delivered through BattingHub. How Our Income Supports Our Community Purpose Income generated through lane hire, coaching, camps, events and other activities helps BattingHub CIC operate and maintain its facilities and deliver its community objectives. Surpluses are used in accordance with the company’s CIC structure to support the continued development of BattingHub and its community activities. This can include investment in facilities and equipment, developing new programmes, improving accessibility, supporting coaching and creating additional opportunities for people within the local community to participate in cricket and physical activity. Measuring Our Impact BattingHub CIC is committed to demonstrating the difference its activities make. We will seek to monitor measures such as the number of people using the facility, junior participation, coaching sessions delivered, holiday programme participation, community and club partnerships, supported or subsidised opportunities and progression into continued participation in cricket. We will also use feedback from participants, parents, coaches, clubs and community partners to help shape future programmes.
