During the financial year, Jayce’s World of Learning CIC began delivering its community literacy work, with activities commencing in June 2025. The CIC developed and launched the Books From Children To Children 2025 Pilot in July 2025, providing children with opportunities to develop their reading, writing, creativity and confidence and to have their voices heard through child-led literacy activities. The pilot was designed to encourage children to see themselves as readers, writers and contributors, with a particular focus on giving children opportunities to express their ideas and imagination through their own writing. During the period, the CIC invested in the development of the pilot, including illustration and publication design, promotional materials, community events, travel and workshop materials and the development of a dedicated website to support the project and its participants. The activities were funded personally by the CIC's director during the period, allowing the CIC to establish and begin delivering its community literacy programme before receiving other organisational funding. The work established the foundation for the CIC's ongoing mission to improve children's engagement with literacy and provide child-led opportunities for children to read, write, create and share their stories.
The CIC consulted with stakeholders including children and their families, educators, schools, literacy and community organisations, and partners involved in supporting children's reading and writing. Consultation took place through discussions, feedback and engagement with stakeholders during the development and delivery of the Books From Children To Children 2025 Pilot. Feedback helped shape the pilot's child-led approach, with an emphasis on giving children the freedom to express their own ideas, creativity and imagination through writing. Feedback also informed the development of the project's resources, website, workshops and wider community engagement. The CIC will continue to consult with children, families, educators and community partners to ensure that its activities remain relevant and beneficial to the communities it serves.
