During the financial year, Back to Eden’s Kitchen CIC benefited the community by providing free food and health education activities. The company delivered two free health talks: one on healthy living habits and another on protecting the immune system during the cold and flu season. These sessions provided accessible information to help participants make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. A hot meal was also provided at the end of each session, giving participants the opportunity to warm up and socialise. The company also delivered a practical apple baking demonstration during the abundant apple season, showing participants how apples can be used as an alternative to eggs in baking. This provided a simple, seasonal and budget-friendly way to adapt everyday recipes and make use of readily available local produce. During the year, the company also focused on building relationships with local community groups, learning more about the needs and priorities of their communities, and exploring suitable funding opportunities to support future food education, cookery and wellbeing activities. The company also explored opportunities to generate income through paid community cookery activities, with the intention that income generated would support the company’s wider community benefit work. Although attempts to organise fermentation workshops during the year were not successful, these efforts formed part of the company's development towards creating sustainable income to support its community activities.
