BUSINESS SUMMARY
During the year ending April 2026, PINCH continued to invest significantly in its people, systems, and operational excellence to support sustainable growth and strengthen its position as a leading hospitality and workplace dining service provider.
The business doubled its headcount to thirty-two employees, including Directors, reflecting continued expansion and investment in talent. Key strategic appointments included Jules Heckman Hughes as Creative and Sustainability Lead; Jules, a Senior Director, brings a wealth of creative expertise and knowledge of environmental practices to support our onsite teams and aid the retention process.
Simon Esner was appointed Chairman; Simon’s significant credentials in business development and client relationship building will generate momentum for growth and he will spearhead the development and acquisition of new clients for the business. Internal career progression was demonstrated through the promotion of Chris Gidden to Group Chef Manager.
Investment in employee development and wellbeing remained a priority. The company enhanced training capabilities through the MAPAL learning platform and implemented the Breathe HR system to streamline employee management, holiday and absence tracking, rotas, and timesheets. PINCH also strengthened its commitment to employee wellbeing through Mindful Employer accreditation and membership of Hospitality Action, providing employees with access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme.
The business continued to reinforce its environmental and social responsibility initiatives. Through a partnership with Carma, trees are planted for every new employee recruited. Charitable support during the year focused on ‘Only A Pavement Away’, including a financial donation in place of client Christmas gifts, equipment donations supported by supply partner Lockhart, and participation in World Homeless Day initiatives.
Operational standards and compliance remained key areas of focus. PINCH invested in health, safety, and food hygiene systems through its partnership with Food Safety Guru, implementing cloud space, bespoke reporting, and monitoring processes. This was complemented by a programme of internal operating processes including customer feedback and attitudinal research, to drive continuous improvement across the business.
The company also maintained an active marketing programme, including campaigns such as “Fuel Not Feed”, “Feel Good Kitchen”, seasonal activations and “PINCH Proud”, helping to strengthen client engagement and brand awareness. Throughout the year, the team successfully supported and delivered a range of client events, demonstrating operational capability and service excellence.
Overall, the year was characterised by significant investment in people, infrastructure, wellbeing, compliance, and corporate responsibility, providing a strong platform for future growth and continued service excellence. Growth during the year was driven by two significant contract gains in January and April, which will double company turnover whilst further cementing our presence in London, the Home Counties and Cambridge, adding to the sites we have established in London and Newcastle.
