We have delivered a number of training sessions, both practical and in the class room to help organisation in our community support, adapt and deliver physical activity for disabled people and people with a long term health condition. We have worked with HAF (holiday, activity and food) providers, schools, sports coaching companies and care homes to train staff to be inclusive and innovative in their delivery of physical activity for a wide range of disabled people, both old and young and people with a long term health condition or additional need.
Working with the HAF (holiday, activity and food) providers in Stockport we consulted with them and worked closely with them to find out what challenges they were facing when it came to working with disabled young people in the community. We tailored and develop our training to help them meet these need and are continuing to work with these organisation and young people, to make sure the access and provision is inclusive for all. We consulted with local care homes and put out an expression of interest to hear how their residents are accessing physical activity and have started a Active Care Tennis programme, training staff to deliver Active tennis. We are continuing monitor and evaluate the programme with residents. LUSU Inspired CIC also sits on a number of local forums in Stockport and are working with Stockport council, to make sure that we are aware of the local picture and the local need when it comes to getting more people active in the community.
