Notes to the Financial Statements
for the period 1 May 2025 to 31 March 2026
| 1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
Trident Computers (U.K.) Limited is a
The presentational currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£). Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest pound.
| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Preparation of consolidated financial statements
The financial statements contain information about Trident Computers (U.K.) Limited as an individual company and do not contain consolidated financial information as the parent of a group. The company is exempt under Section 400 of the Companies Act 2006 from the requirements to prepare consolidated financial statements as it and its subsidiary undertaking are included by full consolidation in the consolidated financial statements of its parent, Poseidon Ventures Limited, Shaftsbury Court, 95 Ditchling Road, Brighton, BN1 4ST.
Significant judgements and estimates
Preparation of the financial statements requires management to make significant judgements and estimates and these estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised if the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods if the revision affects both current and future periods.
The items in the financial statements where these judgements and estimates have been made include the useful economic life of tangible fixed assets, the depreciation of these assets, stock obsolescence, provisions, and the recoverability of debtors.
Key sources of estimation uncertainty
The annual depreciation charge for tangible assets is sensitive to changes in the estimated useful economic lives and residual values of the assets. The useful economic lives and residual values are depreciated over the approved depreciation rates. The carrying amount of tangible fixed assets is £303,645 (2025: £358,209) as noted in note 10.
Tax Provision
The tax provision is based on management's best estimate of the amount expected to be payable, having considered the current tax legislation, correspondence with tax authorities and any areas of uncertainty.

Turnover
Turnover comprises the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for the sale of the goods and provision of services in the ordinary course of the company's activities. Turnover is shown net of sales/value added tax, returns, rebates and discounts.
Sale of goods
Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised at the point when the significant risk and rewards of ownership has transferred to the customer. This is usually at the point the customer takes ownership of the goods purchased.
Rendering of services
Revenue in respect of servicing contracts is recognised as the company performs its obligations and when the outcome of the transaction can be estimated reliably. The company is able to reliably estimate the outcome of a service contract when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
- the amount of revenue can be measured reliably;
- it is probable (ie, more likely than not) that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the entity;
- the stage of completion of the transaction at the end of the reporting period can be measured reliably; and
- the costs incurred for the transaction and the costs to complete the transaction can be measured reliably.
Where the company renders invoices in advance of work performed, the sale is deferred in the balance sheet as deferred income and is presented within creditors falling due within one year, per the revenue recognition criteria in FRS 102, Section 23.
Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost, or deemed cost, less accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses. Cost includes costs directly attributable to making the asset capable of operating as intended by management.
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
| Motor vehicles | - | 25% straight line allowing for residual value |
| Computer equipment | - | 33% straight line |
| Fixtures and fittings | - | Over the term of the lease |
| Long leasehold | - | Over the term of the lease |
Investments in subsidiaries
Investments in subsidiary undertakings are recognised at cost less impairment.
Stocks
Stock is valued at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.
Stock consists of IT consumables and accessories.

Financial instruments
At each balance sheet date, the company reviews the carrying amount of its assets to determine whether there is any indication that any items have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of an asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss, if any.
The company's financial instruments comprise cash, debtors (trade and other debtors) and creditors (trade, other creditors, accruals and deferred income). A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised when the company becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. The de-recognition of a financial instrument takes place when the company no longer controls substantially all the risks and rewards.
At each balance sheet date, the company reviews the carrying amount of its assets to determine whether there is any indication that any items have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of an asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss, if any. Where it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an asset, the company estimates the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs.
Taxation
Taxation for the period comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the period end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution plan for its employees. A defined contribution plan is a pension plan under which the company pays fixed contributions into a separate entity. Once the contributions have been paid the company has no further payment obligations.
The contributions are recognised as an expense in the Income Statement when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown in accruals as a liability on the Balance Sheet. The assets of the plan are held separately from the company in independently administered funds.
Going concern
The Directors have reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in existence for the foreseeable future. The company therefore continues to adopt the going concern basis in preparing its financial statements.

Impairment policy
At each balance sheet date, the company reviews the carrying amount of its assets to determine whether there is any indication that any items have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of an asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss, if any. Where it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an asset, the company estimates the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs.
Employee benefits
The costs of short-term employee benefits are recognised as a liability and an expense.
Termination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when the company is demonstrably committed to terminate the employment of an employee or to provide termination benefits.
Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at all with banks, other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities.
