COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BLACK LEADERS CIC

Year Ending: 31 December 2025

Company activities and impact

Black Leaders CIC is a community-led organisation focused on reducing inequalities experienced by people from racially minoritised and marginalised communities, particularly in relation to employment, career progression and workplace experience. We provide free and accessible employability support, mentoring, career development activities and inclusive recruitment education. During 2025, we continued to expand our community-led employability and career development work across London and beyond. Key activities and impact included: - Employability and career support: We delivered 13 CV clinics alongside bespoke career and employability support. Our support included CV development, interview preparation, career progression advice and helping participants to better understand and navigate employment systems. - Employment outcomes: Our programme supported more than 30 people into full-time NHS roles during 2025. Participants receiving our employability support reported strong employment outcomes, with a 98% success rate in securing at least two job offers within three to six months. - Events and community engagement: We delivered eight community events and webinars, creating accessible spaces for people to receive practical support, share experiences and build confidence. One event delivered alongside Morgan Hunt attracted more than 300 participants. - Workplace inclusion and reasonable adjustments: We supported eight individuals to negotiate reasonable workplace adjustments, helping participants better understand their rights and advocate for the support they needed within the workplace. -Inclusive recruitment: We trained approximately 250 staff in inclusive recruitment, extending our impact beyond individual participants by supporting organisations and employers to improve recruitment practice. - Support for young people: A pilot delivered with a pupil referral unit supported 25 excluded young people across three sessions, extending our work to young people who may experience additional barriers to education and employment. Our activities continued to be shaped by lived experience and community feedback. This has enabled Black Leaders CIC to provide practical, culturally relevant support while addressing barriers relating to access, confidence, employment systems and workplace inclusion.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders include people from racially minoritised and marginalised communities seeking employment or career progression, people experiencing barriers within the workplace, young people, employers, community organisations and professionals across a range of sectors. During the year, we engaged with more than 8,000 people through social media, CV clinics, webinars and community conversations. We also used focus groups and targeted engagement to hear from communities that can be underrepresented in traditional consultation, including disabled care leavers and faith-based communities. In addition, our community committee met fortnightly to review delivery, challenge decisions and help shape organisational priorities. Feedback from participants highlighted that barriers to employment and progression were often related to access, confidence and understanding how employment systems work. Community members also identified the importance of peer support, sessions outside standard working hours, support beyond the healthcare sector and activities delivered by people with relevant lived experience. In response to this feedback, we continued to develop flexible online and in-person support, expanded our work beyond healthcare into sectors including education, social care, retail, property and the voluntary sector, and embedded peer-led and lived-experience approaches within our delivery.
