2.Accounting policies
Basis of preparation of financial statements
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention unless otherwise specified within these accounting policies and in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006. The disclosure requirements of Section 1A of FRS 102 have been applied other than where additional disclosure is required to show a true and fair view.
The following principal accounting policies have been applied:
The holding company raises external funding for the wider Group by means of equity capital and convertible loans. These funds are then either injected as capital or lent to group undertakings. The recoverability of these intercompany balances, and the Company's own ability to meet its obligations as they fall due, is therefore dependent upon the trading performance and cash generation of the wider group, as well as concluding future capital rounds. These conditions indicate the existence of a material uncertainty which could cast significant doubt over the Company's and the Group's ability to continue as a going concern. The financial statements do not include the adjustments that would result if the Company or Group were unable to continue as a going concern. Notwithstanding this uncertainty, the directors have a reasonable expectation, based on equity raises subsequent to the year end and ongoing negotiations with investors, that the Company and Group have adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future, and accordingly continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.
