During our first year of operation, our CIC focused on supporting children and families within the Chadderton community, particularly in the OL9 area, which is home to a diverse population with a significant proportion of residents from ethnic minority backgrounds. Our main funded activity was a Homework Club, delivered through funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. The Homework Club provided children with a safe, supportive environment where they could receive educational assistance, improve their confidence, and develop their learning outside of school. The project offered families access to educational support within their local community. Alongside the Homework Club, we organised a range of children's activities, including lantern-making workshops, Ramadan-themed educational sessions, a children's Bake Off, storytelling sessions, and arts and colouring activities. To keep these activities accessible while helping to cover costs, some sessions were provided free of charge, while others had a small participation fee per child. These sessions encouraged creativity, learning, cultural awareness, and social interaction, giving local children opportunities to engage in positive activities. During the winter months, our CIC also received a donation of coats and jackets from a local business. We organised a free community distribution, making these items available to anyone in need across Oldham and Salford. This initiative helped support individuals and families experiencing financial hardship by providing essential winter clothing at no cost. As a newly established CIC, our first year has been focused on building trust within the community, responding to local needs, and creating opportunities that promote education, inclusion, and community wellbeing. We have laid the foundations for future growth and aim to expand both our educational programmes and wider community support activities in the years ahead.
No consultation with stakeholders
No remuneration was paid to the directors during the year. However, £390.00 was paid to a director for the delivery of workshops on behalf of the CIC.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
