Report of the Trustees
for the Year Ended 31 December 2025
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The charities objects are:
a) The advancement of the Christian faith by the provision of a resource of material and support;
b) to be a resource for individuals and churches in the area by:
i. The sale of such books, CD's, cassettes, gifts and other products which comply with above;
ii. Supplying material that will assist with Christian education;
iii. Serving the community by providing a place of care and support
Public benefit
The trustees have had due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE - 2025
Historically, the Charity served the community in and around Fleet by providing Christian resources, artwork, crafts, gifts and cards designed to offer encouragement and spiritual edification.
Following a fall in revenue, and after consultation with charity members at the start of 2024, the directors took the decision to close the bookshop in April 2024. By mid-2025 the trustees had resolved to transform the former bookshop into a coffee shop and to convert the upper floor into a one-bedroom apartment.
The Coffee Shop project is the centrepiece of a wider plan to bring the whole of the LivingStones Christian Centre back into active use for the benefit of the community. Occupying the ground floor at street level, the coffee shop serves as the front door to the building: an inviting, warm and professionally run space, open to all, from which visitors are naturally drawn into the activities taking place in the meeting rooms, café and ancillary spaces elsewhere in the premises. Rather than operating as a standalone venture, it anchors and sustains everything around it - providing footfall, a point of welcome, and a reason for people to come through the door in the first place.
The intention is that the various spaces throughout the Centre will host a complementary range of community activities: groups meeting during the day, room hire for local organisations, and a base from which a number of Christian ministries can serve Fleet and the surrounding region. The coffee shop ties these together, giving the building a single, coherent public face and allowing each activity to draw on the others. Built on Christian values, the initiative seeks to create a place where everyone, regardless of background or belief, can gather, find support, and experience genuine Christian hospitality.
Fundraising efforts in 2025 were focused on the Christian community within the Hart district, of which Fleet is a key part. Since then, activities have been devoted entirely to the building's redevelopment, which is anticipated to be largely complete during 2026.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
