Katell Limited is a
| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
There were no material departures from that standard.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and have remained unchanged from the previous year, and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
Going concern
The company has incurred a trading loss for 2025 and has net current liabilities £694,029. The directors believe that it is appropriate to continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
Related party exemption
The company has taken advantage of exemption, under the terms of Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland', not to disclose related party transactions with wholly owned companies within the group nor transactions conducted at market rates.
Turnover
The turnover represents amounts invoiced for fire suites and wooden furnishings sold during the year, exclusive of value added tax.
Income recognition
Income is recognised at the point in which the company has fulfilled its contractual obligations and the risks and rewards attaching to the product have been transferred to the customer on the safe delivery of the goods.
Tangible fixed assets
| Freehold property | - |
| Long leasehold | - |
| Improvements to property | - |
| Plant and machinery | - |
| Motor vehicles | - |
| Computer equipment | - |
The directors consider that freehold and long leasehold properties are maintained in such a state that their residual value is at least equal to their net book values. As a result, the corresponding depreciation would not be material and therefore is not charged in the profit and loss account.
The directors perform annual impairment reviews to ensure that the carrying value is not lower than the recoverable amount.
Stocks
Stocks and work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and selling price less estimated costs to sell, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued |
Financial instruments
Basic financial instruments are recognised at amortised cost with changes recognised in profit or loss.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Statement of Income and Retained Earnings, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the profit and loss account on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
Invoice discounting
The invoice discounting debtor represents amounts received in respect of financed debts. There is full recourse to the company for losses on debts, and so the financed debts continue to be recognised on the balance sheet. Interest and other charges relating to invoice discounting are recognised in the profit and loss account over the relevant period.
