Company activities and impact

RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE (GT DUNMOW) CI.C. CONTINUES TO WORK WITH OUR COMMUNITY IN ESSEX. THIS YEAR WE WERE APPROACHED BY 2 NEW GROUP ATTENDEES, ONE A SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOL, AND THE OTHER WAS A CHARITY ORGANISATION, AND THEY WERE BOTH SEEKING A PLACE TO VISIT AS A CLASS OR GROUP TO A CARE FARM. WE WERE VERY PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THESE 2 COMMUNITY NEEDS, AND IN ONE CASE THEIR NEEDS WERE URGENT HAVING LOST THEIR PREVIOUS FACILITY SUDDENLY AND SO REQUIRED SOMEWHERE FOR THEIR HENS AND 2 GOATS TOO. RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE WAS ABLE TO ORGANISE THE NEEDS OF BOTH GROUP BOOKINGS, AND TO OFFER SUPPORT FOR THEIR NEED TO SUPPORT THEIR OWN THERAPY ANIMALS. BOTH GROUPS ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE WAY THE WE SUPPORTED THEIR ATTENDEES AND STAFF TO JOIN RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE CARE FARM, AND COULD QUICKLY SEE HOW MUCH WAS TO GAINED WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE FACILITIES OFFERED, AND THE OPPORTUNITIES TAKEN UP, AND THE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE WE HAVE OVER 16 YEARS OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT. THE CHILDREN ATTENDING QUICKLY SEEM TO NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE FROM THEIR CLASSROOM SETTINGS, AND ARE JUST SO PLEASED TO BE IN THE CARE FARM, AND TO FIND MANY AREAS OF INTEREST AND OCCUPATION THEY CAN GET INVOLVED IN. ALSO, THE STAFF SUPPORTING THESE GROUPS ALSO FIND THE DIFFERENT APPROACH WE OFFER, AND THE LOVELY OUTDOOR LEARNING SUPPORTS THEIR HARDWORK AND AT TIMES, STRESSFUL LIVES. RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE CONTINUES TO WORK ALONGSIDE, OBSERVE AND LISTEN TO THE NEEDS OF THESE NEW GROUP ATTENDEES, AND MAKE CHANGES TO HELP SUPPORT EXISTING AND NEW NEEDS. RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE ALSO HAS GAINED A FEW MORE ATTENDEES TO ITS LONG TERM AND POPULAR FARM CLUB. WE HAVE HAD A RETURNING ATTENDEE JOIN US FOR A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENTLY STRUCTURED DAY. THIS DAY IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT MORE GROUP LEARNING, WORKING TOGETHER AS A TEAM, AND CAN TAKE ON DIFFERENT AND MORE CHALLENGING ACTIVITIES INVOLVING THE ENVIRONMENT AND WOODWORK PROJECTS. WE HAVE ALSO HAD 3 NEW FARM CLUB ATTENDEES FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGE INIATIVE, WHO ARE SEEKING SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS LOOKING FOR MORE WEEKS ACTIVITIES THEN A SCHOOL YEAR. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN AN INTERESTING WAY TO SUPPORT THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE TRANSITIONING FROM COLLEGE INTO THE COMMUNITY GENERALLY, BUT REQUIRING ADDITIONAL SUPPORT. WE ARE PLEASED WE ARE HERE AND ABLE TO SUPPORT THESE NEW SITUATIONS, AND OF COURSE WE ALSO LEARN ALONG THE WAY TOO. WE OF COURSE ARE AWARE, THAT THINGS CAN CHANGE ON AN INDIVIDUAL WAY, AND THAT GROUP FUNDED ATTENDEES CAN ALSO LOSS FUNDING, WHICH HAS HAPPENED TO US BEFORE IN THE PAST SADLY. WE DO HOPE THAT SINCE COVID 19, THAT THERE HAS BEEN A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW MUCH MENTAL HEALTH & PHYSICAL HEALTH WORK TOGETHER, AND THAT FUNDING THE SUPPORT FOR OUTDOOR LEARNING AND THERAPY BENEFITS THE INDIVIDUAL, THEIR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY AS IMPORTANT WORK.

Consultation with stakeholders

RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE (GT DUNMOW) C.I.C. CONTINUES TO WORK ALONGSIDE OUR COMMUNITY OF ATTENDEES. WE HAVE VERY CLOSE LINKS WITH THE INDIVIDUALS THAT ATTENDEED, ALSO WITH THEIR SCHOOL, AND LATERLY WITH THEIR FAMILIES AS THEY JOIN OUR FARM CLUB SESSIONS AFTER EDUCATION. WE HAVE A SPRING OPEN DAY IN APRIL, AND ARE ENCOURAGED TO SEE MANY VISITORS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ALL THE AREAS CARE FARMING CAN SUPPORT, ALONG WITH THE REGULAR WORK WE HAVE CONTINUED FOR 16 YEARS. WE ARE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN IN THE INCREASING DEMANDS TO SUPPORT THE CARE FARM IN MANY AREAS, OF SITE MAINTANCE, ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING, CARE FARM LEARNING SKILLS, ANIMAL CARE. WE ARE ALSO SEEKING FOLK WHO HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE OF SUPPORTING LEARNING DISABLED INDIVIDUALS, AND THOSE WHO ALSO HAVE HAD MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS. THIS IS AREA OF ADDITIONAL NEED MORE SO, AND FOR THOSE YOUNGER ADULTS NOT IN EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT OR TRAINING. CAROL MONK ALSO ATTENDS COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND ENCOURAGES AN UNDERSTANING OF THE GOOD WORK CARE FARMING IS CLEARLY ACHIEVING. THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO DO. WE DO SEND OUT A LETTER EACH YEAR, FROM OUR ORIGINAL MAILING LIST OF ATTENDEES ASKING “HOW IS RAINBOW RURAL CENTRE DOING”? “PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE US TO TRY AND INCLUDE”? THIS IS HELPFUL, AND SEEMS TO BE THAT OUR ATTENDEES ARE VERY HAPPY.
