Media Chain Group Limited is a private company, limited by shares, registered in England and Wales, registration number 10611522. The registered office is 29 Great James Street, London, WC1N 3EY, United Kingdom.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. There were no material departures from that standard. The company has taken advantage of the exemption under section 399 of the Companies Act 2006 not to prepare consolidated accounts, on the basis that the group of which this is the subsidiary qualifies as a small group. The financial statements present information about the company as an individual entity and not about its group. C Media Holdings Ltd is ultimate parent and Media Chain Group Holdings Ltd immediate parent, Christian Grobel as ultimate controlling party.
The principal accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below and also have been consistently applied within the same accounts.
Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. In determining the appropriate basis of preparation of the financial statements, the Directors have considered whether the Company can continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. The Directors have considered the principal risks and uncertainties with respect to their assessment of going concern, none of which in the opinion of the Directors give rise to specific risk to the going concern status of the company.
Presentation currency
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Financial instruments
Basic financial instruments are recognised at amortised cost, except for investments in non-convertible preference and non-puttable ordinary shares which are measured at fair value, with changes recognised in profit or loss. Where fair value cannot be measured reliably such investments are held at cost less impairment. Derivative financial instruments are initially recorded at cost and thereafter at fair value with changes recognised in profit or loss.
Leased assets
Rentals applicable to operating leases where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership remain with the lessor are charged against profit on a straight line basis over the lease term. Assets held under finance leases and hire purchase contracts are capitalised and depreciated over their useful lives. The corresponding lease or hire purchase obligation is treated in the balance sheet as a liability. The interest element of rental obligations is charged to the profit and loss account over the period of the lease at a constant proportion of the outstanding balance of capital repayments.
Government grants
Government grants in relation to tangible fixed assets are credited to profit and loss account over the useful lives of the related assets, whereas those in relation to expenditure are credited when the expenditure is charged to profit and loss.
The ultimate controlling party is Christian Thomas Peter Grobel.
Turnover includes £504,004 in respect of the realisation of internally generated intangible fixed assets (brand), which had no carrying value in the balance sheet. The credit is taxable as a trading receipt under CTA 2009 Part 8.
Cost at 1 January 2025: £25,000.
Additions in the year: £200,000.
Cost at 31 December 2025: £225,000.
The addition represents an investment in the ordinary share capital of The Social Lemon Ltd. Investments in unlisted shares are measured at fair value where this can be measured reliably, and otherwise at cost less impairment.
