9 Prior year adjustment
In previous years, goodwill had not been recognised in the financial statements. It was identified that the acquisition of business combinations had been incorrectly recorded in prior reporting periods. In the year ended 30 June 2024, intangible fixed assets, including goodwill, after amortisation charges, was understated by £442,320. The directors of the company have therefore made a prior year adjustment to correct the material error. In turn, this adjustment has led to the reclassifications of investments and debtors. Opening retained earnings in the comparatives to these financial statements (i.e. at 1 July 2023) have been amended by £67,292. Opening profit and loss reserves to this year’s financial statements (i.e. at 1 July 2024) have been amended by a further £40,388, resulting in a cumulative impact of £107,680 to the retained earnings as previously stated at 30 June 2024.
