The main activity undertaken in the financial year, was the rollout of a series of workshops for youth workers the Youth Worker Accelerator. As well an 8-week programme: ‘Be A Boss’ with support from circular fashion brand Reskinned, delivered in Haringey. To build on work from 2024, in 2025 FLAARE looked to support more young people through supporting youth workers (many of whom see over 100 young people a week). The culumination of 2024’s trailing of concepts led to a 6-month Youth Worker Accelerator in 2025. A cohort of youth workers were supported with 6 learning and development sessions, and 6-months of professional mentorship from mentors at Avanade. In the first session, held in-person at Avanade’s London offices focused on Leadership, Purpose and Growth Mindset. Session 2 focused on ‘Delivering Feedback and Self-Awareness’. Session 3 on ‘Communicating with Impact’ including a focus on storytelling and pitching to internal and external stakeholders. Session 4 focused on ‘Project and Programme Management’, core skills for all youth workers, particularly those in looking for management positions or promotions. Session 5 looked to ‘Account Management and Partnerships’ and included guest speaker Lucy Davies from the British Red Cross, discussing Corporate Partnerships. The final session, was also held at Avanade’s London Office and was a presentation of the youth worker’s dream pitch. Pitches included a new programme for Haringey Council; a charity concept that one participant had been developing with her mentor; and a cafe-youth hub space. In 2025 FLAARE also ran an 8 week programme: ‘Be A Boss’ in Harginey with brand partner Reskinned. The key objective is bringing business education to life for underrepresented young people in an engaging way. We deliver this through dynamic, creative teaching practices and partnerships with inspiring role models from different businesses and industries. This programme enabled 16 young people (12-17 years old) to join weekly in person sessions with members of the Reskinned team. During the 8-week programme, Flaare ran workshops featuring members of Reskinned from across business functions, (including Founders, Head of Operations, Marketing, Social Media, and Finance). In week-one, FLAARE ran a trip to the Reskinned warehouse in Canning Town where young people were involved with clothes sorting and participated in a fashion show. In the 7-weeks following, FLAARE’s workshops built on this experience to develop the young peoples’ understanding of what is involved in running a small, creative, brand with sustainability and and profit as core drivers to mission. The practical element of the programme had the participants working in youth ‘agencies’ responding to a creative business brief, set by Reskinned (who also provided face-to-face mentorship throughout). The brief focused young people on solving for one of three sustainability challenges: fast fashion, circular economy, and landfill. Participants were educated about the framework and purpose of both business plans and advocacy campaigns. They were tasked with crafting either one in relation to their chosen topic. The programme concluded with young people delivering Dragon's Den presentations hosted in the Wood Green Library Creative Hub and judged by key stakeholders from Reskinned (including Founders and Head of Marketing). The programmes successes included increases in participants teamwork skills, presentation skills, confidence and first time experiences of a workplace.
FLAARE CIC's stakeholders are: - Young people across London - Our sponsor Avanade - Youth workers across London, primarily from Haringey council. - Haringey Council - Our brand partner Reskinned Young people who participated Be A Boss gave feedback after the programme. Some testimonials that we recorded included: - "It was really fun, every lesson was special and different. It was a great experience" - "It was good...I learnt how to be confident" - "I learnt how to present myself in front of a group of business owners" - Every participant said that they enjoyed the session and would like to take part in another FLAARE session. Reskinned, as the brand partner to Be A Boss: "I really enjoyed the experience of working with the young people on this programme and it was great to see how well they worked together collaboratively to build their pitches, ensuring everyone in the group was included - a great example of teamwork. They listened well to feedback, taking our pointers on board to help develop their ideas and were always keen to learn more. I was really impressed with how confident they were for their age and their understanding of the issues and solutions within the fashion industry. I hope they all continue to want to learn even more about sustainability! Amazing work from everyone involved." Michelle, Operations Director Avanade is a technology consultant and was the primary sponsor of FLAARE CIC in the year ending December 2025. Based on work in 2024, our continued relationship with Avanade's Citizenship team enabled the sponsorship of the Youth Worker Leadership Accelerator, and provision of volunteer mentors for the youth workers. Feedback received on the Accelerator from Avanade colleagues included: - "exposed to something so different from my day to day" - "great employee development, really good and created a sense of belonging (at Avanade)" - "Both Dee and Davina are amazingly talented, strong women. I feel very lucky to have met them. Thank you for the connection" - "(Mentoring is) an energising thing to do" Feedback from Avanade colleagues included areas to improve: FLAARE needed to set stronger expectations of mentors, and communicate more frequently. Youth workers are a key stakeholder for FLAARE, as we continue to build new ways to support them and the essential work they complete for young people. - "This accelerator enabled me to look at things in a different way" - "Mentors helped exchange and build" - "Learnt a lot from (the others in the cohort)" - "Pushed me to throw caution to the wind" - "Building confidence for next time"
