STEAMTISTIC is an Autistic-led organisation that runs out-of-school clubs focused on science, technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM). These clubs offer inclusive social environments where neurodivergent young people and their families can meet up and engage in activities organised by volunteers. The community benefits from: - Access to social clubs that are neuroaffirming -opportunities to co-design and choose activities - meeting other local neurodivergent families We run a free youth club every Monday, led by parent volunteers; it served 15 families from September 2024 to September 2025.
Our stakeholders include neurodiverse young people and their families from a variety of educational backgrounds, including mainstream schools, home education, those out of school due to barriers to inclusion, and those in specialist provisions. Parents and carers actively participate alongside their young people; many of whom are also neurodivergent themselves. The stakeholders lead the youth club activities, and we decide as a group what activities we will do at club. Young people and parents suggest activities and/or lead activities. Activities include games, mindfulness, cooking, construction activities and crafts. We use spoken word, visual feedback forms, group activities and voting to review activities.
