Statement of director's responsibilities The director is responsible for preparing the directors' report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Company law requires the director to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law, the director has elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under company law the director must not approve the financial statements unless he is satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and of the surplus or deficit of the company for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the director is required to select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently; make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent; state whether applicable United Kingdom Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in business. The director is responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable him to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. He is also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Milton Keynes Crescent Cricket Club CIC promotes cricket and provides structured sporting opportunities for children and young people from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. During the period, approximately 45 children were registered, with around 35 regularly participating in coaching, training and matches across the U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups. The club delivered approximately 25 coaching and training sessions and participated in around 40 matches, including the Bucks Junior League and Bucks Junior Cup. Training focused on cricketing skills, physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, communication and confidence. A key area of development was the progression of junior players. During the period, seven players under the age of 15 were given opportunities to play in the adult team in weekend league matches, allowing them to gain experience alongside more experienced cricketers and develop confidence and match awareness. The club also supported inclusive participation. Children from Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Luton, and from a range of backgrounds, took part in the club’s activities. Girls participated within the junior programme, including the U11 and U15 teams. The club sought to reduce barriers to participation by offering discounted registration and match fees to children from lower-income families where appropriate and by providing access to suitable cricket and training equipment. To assist families with travel, parents were encouraged to coordinate shared lifts on a voluntary basis where suitable. This helped reduce the transport burden on some families while encouraging cooperation between parents. Approximately eight coaches and volunteers supported the club during the period. Parents were also encouraged to take voluntary roles in coaching support, match-day activities and the general running of the club. Income from registrations, memberships, match fees and sponsorship was used to support the company’s cricket activities, including ground hire, equipment, uniforms and league and match costs. The club intends to continue expanding participation, encouraging more girls and young players to become involved, developing junior players towards adult cricket, seeking sponsorship and grant funding, and encouraging greater voluntary involvement from parents and the wider community. The director and management considers that these activities provided clear community benefit by encouraging participation in sport, improving physical fitness, developing cricketing and personal skills, and bringing together children, families, coaches and volunteers through organised cricket.
The company’s main stakeholders include players, parents and guardians, coaches, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and organisations involved in cricket facilities and competitions. The club maintained regular communication with stakeholders through training sessions, matches and normal club communications. Parents and players were able to provide feedback on coaching, match participation, player development, facilities, transport arrangements and other club activities. Where appropriate, this feedback was considered when arranging coaching sessions, matches and other activities. Parents were also encouraged to support the club through voluntary roles and practical assistance. The club intends to continue engaging with players, parents, coaches and volunteers so that its activities remain responsive to the needs of the children and families it serves.
