OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The primary objective of Chambray Cricket Club remains the provision of community participation and healthy recreation, with particular emphasis on the provision of facilities for the playing of cricket. The Club is committed to the concept of equality and respects the rights and dignity of every person regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and sexual, social, or economic status
Significant activities
The continued focus of all activities remains the enjoyment and enhancement of any individual member who wishes to participate in cricket or sporting activities at Charlbury Cricket Club. Very clear emphasis is placed on the development of youth members from the age of 4 to adulthood.
In 2025, the club continued to field three senior Saturday sides within the Cherwell Cricket League in Divisions 4, 6A, and 8A. Following a challenging 2024 season, the 2025 season saw an outstanding resurgence on the field:
-1st XI: Under the captaincy of David Jenkins, the 1st XI earned a hard-fought promotion to Division 3 of the Cherwell League. Highlights included David Jenkins scoring 529 runs, Shami Mendis' masterclass innings (178 against Dorchester 1 and 121* against Chipping Norton), and Jake Godfrey reaching the historic milestone of 200 1st XI wickets.
- 2nd XI: Captained by Craig Atlas in the injury absence of Tom Nash, the 2nd XI achieved a stable mid-table finish in Division 6A while successfully integrating emerging talent.
- 3rd XI: Led by Charlie Clews in Division 8A, the side finished in a strong position, continuing to bridge the gap between youth and senior cricket.
- Ladies' & Girls' Section: The "Charlbury Chaos" continued to excel in the Home Counties Women's Cricket League (HCWCL) Premier Division. Special recognition goes to Abi Flory, who scored over 1,000 runs across the season, including a performance of 185 runs against Falkland Women.
The youth section achieved regional success with the U13 squad winning their Regional Final under coach Matt Jenkinson and Youth Chair Tom Eaton. Plans were established to launch the Charlbury Cricket Academy in 2026 to focus on high-performance junior coaching.
Investment in facilities at Dyers Hill remained a priority. The dedicated grounds team-Archie Bradbury, Matt Doran, and Lottie Oxton-achieved marked improvements in pitch quality, pace, and consistent bounce.
Volunteers
Although ground preparation and specialist maintenance involve contracted personnel and dedicated grounds managers, the Club remains heavily indebted to its many volunteers who contribute to all aspects of running and developing the Club.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
Membership remained strong across all age groups and demographics. Friday night coaching sessions catered to All-Stars, Dynamos, Soft Ball, U11, U13, and U15 groups. The non-turf pitch and stretch tent provided crucial facility support throughout the season.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Fundraising activities
During the year, major community and fundraising events were hosted at the Club:
- Oktoberfest & Fireworks Display: The Oktoberfest (hosted in a marquee) and the annual Fireworks Display both saw high community turnouts and generated essential operational funds.
- Ground & Facility Hire: Ground hire to other cricket clubs, county/district matches, and community users further supplemented the Club's income. The facility also continued to host mini-soccer during the winter months to maintain all-year-round site usage.
- Modernized digital outreach and social media operations led by Chloe Westbury significantly increased local community engagement and sponsorship visibility.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Principal funding sources
The Club's principal funding sources continue to be members' subscriptions, match fees, bar revenues, corporate sponsorship, facility hire, and community fundraising events.
Reserves policy
The trustees are confident that the operation of the Club can successfully continue by relying on fundraising, membership fees, bar contributions, and hire activities within the clubhouse and grounds. The financial standing remains sound to honour all commitments.
FUTURE PLANS
The primary objective of the Club remains to supply high-quality cricket to all members and to provide top-tier facilities. Key future plans include:
- Launching the Charlbury Cricket Academy in 2026/7 to transition junior players into senior cricket.
- Supporting the 1st XI in Division 3 and advancing senior and ladies' competitiveness.
- Continued investment in Dyers Hill ground facilities and square performance.
- Continuing winter ground availability for mini soccer to maintain year-round sports facility usage for the Charlbury community.
