Social Impact
In 2025–26, Community Enterprise Engine supported over 150 social enterprises and community groups, contributing to the creation of more resilient and inclusive local economies. Our social impact is created both through our funded and unfunded work.
● Total Social Enterprises Supported: Over 150
● Growth Accelerator for Social Entrepreneurs: Provided capacity-building support to over 112 Leicester-based social enterprises and charities
● Social Innovation Venture Builder Series: Engaged 48 participants across 6 themed workshops and 20 tailored 1:1 meetings
● Additional social value: Directors contributed over 240 hours of unfunded support as angel partners and community champions.
Our directors led on the development and delivery of the Growth Accelerator for Social Entrepreneurs, in partnership with the University of Leicester School of Business and the Cooperative and Social Enterprise Development Agency. Between October 2023 and March 2026, the Growth Accelerator for Social Entrepreneurs provided structured capacity-building support to over 112 Leicester based social enterprises and charities. Delivering intensive 1:1 consultancy, collaborative Peer Growth Circles, Social Hackathons, and Social Investment Funding Fairs. We have also committed to the long term impacts of this project, making our online ‘Growth Accelerator Workbook’ free to access ongoing, and continuing to provide the peer group meet ups and social investment funding fairs on an unfunded basis.
Between August 2025 and March 2026 we delivered the Social Venture Builder Series for Loughborough University's Incubator. This project provided capacity-building support to socially driven ventures across Charnwood. The programme exceeded its engagement targets by delivering six themed workshops and twenty tailored 1:1 meetings to a community of 48 participants. By offering practical guidance on financial resilience, governance, and grant funding rules, the initiative directly supported the incorporation of a new social enterprise, Youth Anstey Refills CIC, and empowered local groups such as Inspire Young People and Families CIC to successfully secure statutory grant funding and win a pitching event for investment.
Both of our directors are keen community champions providing additional social value outside of their funded projects including:
● Tobias has contributed approximately 200 hours of voluntary support, providing governance, civic leadership, and enterprise mentoring to the East Midlands ecosystem. Acting as an advisory board member, Chair, and mentor, he has offered strategic guidance and capacity-building support to organisations including the Loughborough East Community Association (LECA), Women on Boards CIC, the University of Leicester, and the Focus Charity.
Through expert coaching, event facilitation, and social advocacy, he has supported these organisations to empower disadvantaged communities, foster youth enterprise, and advance regional environmental initiatives.
● June has contributed over 43 hours of voluntary support, providing capacity-building expertise, acting as a critical friend, and offering strategic advice and a trusted sounding board to organisations including Jamila's Legacy, Highfields Adventure Play Association, and STEMPura. Through mentoring, constructive challenge, and expert guidance, she has supported these organisations to strengthen their capacity, governance, and long-term sustainability.
Collectively, these activities demonstrate our sustained commitment to building a stronger, inclusive, and more sustainable Midlands social economy.
