Notes to the Financial Statements
for the Year Ended 30 June 2026

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

Harlum Services Limited is a private company, limited by shares , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Turnover
Sale of goods under finance arrangements
Turnover comprises the sale value of the leased asset at the commencement of the lease, which is when the goods are delivered to the customer, and measured as the present value of lease payments receivable.

The net investment in the lease is recognised as a debtor. Finance income is recognised over the lease term so as to provide a constant periodic rate of return on the net investment outstanding in respect of the lease.

Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when control of the goods has transferred to the customer, the amount of revenue can be measured reliably, it is probable that economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the company, and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably.

Hire of goods
Rental income arising from operating leases is recognised on a straight-line basis over the lease term, unless another systematic basis is more representative of the pattern in which benefit from the leased asset is diminished. The goods which are hired are included in Fixed Assets at their original cost, and depreciated over the expected life of the asset.

Supply of services
Turnover also comprises amounts receivable for services supplied during the year, excluding value added tax. Revenue is recognised in the accounting period in which the services are provided to the customer.

Intangible assets
Patents are recognised at cost less any accumulated impairment losses. The directors have assessed that these patents have an indefinite useful economic life.

Such patents are not amortised but are reviewed annually to confirm that the assessment of indefinite useful life remains appropriate.

The directors have exercised judgement in determining that the patent has an indefinite useful economic life. This assessment is based on the expected future commercial benefits arising from the underlying technology, and the directors' expectation that the patent will continue to generate economic benefits for the foreseeable future.

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life or, if held under a finance lease, over the lease term, whichever is the shorter.
Short leasehold - over the period of the lease
Improvements to property - over the period of the lease
Plant and machinery - 25% on cost and 20% on cost
Fixtures and fittings - 25% on reducing balance
Motor vehicles - 25% on reducing balance
Computer equipment - 33% on cost

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued

Stocks
Stock and Work in Progress is valued at the lower of cost and Net Realisable Value.

Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.

Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.

Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.

Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.

Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Research and development
Expenditure on research and development is written off in the year in which it is incurred.

Foreign currencies
Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result.

Right of use assets and leases
Leases are recognised as finance leases. The lease liability is initially recognised at the present value of the lease payments which have not yet been made and subsequently measured under the amortised cost method.

The initial cost of the right-of-use asset comprises the amount of the initial measurement of the lease liability, lease payments made prior to the lease commencement date, initial direct costs and the estimated costs of removing or dismantling the underlying asset per the conditions of the contract.

Where ownership of the right-of-use asset transfers to the lessee at the end of the lease term, the right-of-use asset is depreciated over the asset’s remaining useful life. If ownership of the right-of-use asset does not transfer to the lessee at the end of the lease term, depreciation is charged over the shorter of the useful life of the right-of-use asset and the lease term.

Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.
