Art Expressions UK CIC is a community-driven organisation using creative arts to strengthen emotional well-being, build confidence, and foster meaningful social connection. Through high-quality painting and drawing sessions, we bring calming, inclusive, and empowering creative experiences to nursing homes, day centres, residential and supported living services, autism and learning disability settings, dementia care, and independent living environments. Our activities have directly supported 271 Northampton residents, particularly older adults in care homes and day centres, as well as young adults in autism and learning disability services. With two full-time staff and a dedicated local art consultant, we have successfully delivered programmes across four care homes and two specialist care settings, with plans to expand further next year. We were honoured to welcome MP Stuart Andrew in May 2026, who visited one of our sessions and witnessed firsthand how our work enhances residents’ well-being. Our activities help reduce isolation, promote social cohesion and friendship, and ease pressure on local health services by encouraging relaxation, joy, and improved motor skills. We hope to soon partner with Northampton College, supporting art and design students to explore how creative practices can be applied meaningfully within community wellbeing settings.
Our key stakeholders are residents of Northampton who live in care homes, day centers, and autism and learning disability services. To ensure our activities meet their needs, we work closely with organizations such as Age UK Northampton and several Avery Healthcare homes, collaborating directly with their activities and wellbeing coordinators to design and deliver meaningful art sessions. We actively consult with participants through direct conversations, questionnaires, and surveys, giving them a voice in shaping the sessions they enjoy. In addition, we gather one-to-one feedback from home managers and well-being coordinators, whose insights have been instrumental in refining our approach and improving the quality of service we provide. Our stakeholder engagement has also strengthened our visibility in the wider community. Through these partnerships and the impact, they generate, our activities were featured in the Northampton Chronicles, helping us reach more residents and highlight the value of creative wellbeing programmes across the town. There are many more care homes and day centers across Northampton that we look forward to engaging. These providers stand to benefit significantly from our service, and we are committed to building new relationships that extend the reach and impact of our creative well-being activities.
