FANS TO 5K C.I.C.
Company No.15311368
Community Interest Company Report
For the year ended 31 December 2025
PART 1 - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY'S ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT
During the year, Fans To 5K CIC continued to develop its community programme designed to help sports supporters become more physically active by using the identity, belonging and motivation associated with supporting a sports club. The programme was developed following earlier community pilots which demonstrated the potential for club identity and friendly sporting rivalry to encourage supporters to begin and maintain physical activity. During 2025, the CIC focused on developing this learning into an accessible and scalable programme capable of reaching supporters regardless of their location, current fitness level or ability to pay.

The programme is intended particularly to make becoming active feel relevant and achievable for people who may not identify with traditional fitness or running programmes. Participants represent the sports club they support and earn points for their club through outdoor walking, jogging and running. A significant area of activity during 2025 was identifying and reducing barriers to participation. The CIC developed its programme so that participation could be free, location-independent and suitable for beginners, while providing structured training, coaching support, accountability and community motivation.

Following learning from the earlier pilots, the Board agreed during 2025 that, in order to further demonstrate the concept and test its ability to scale, Fans To 5K should develop its own digital platform. Development of the Fans To 5K mobile application began in July 2025. The app was designed to provide the infrastructure needed to deliver the programme across multiple sports clubs and geographical locations. It enabled supporters to select and represent their club, connect their physical activity through Strava and contribute towards club league tables, while providing a platform through which Fans To 5K could support and measure participation.

Throughout the year, Fans To 5K CIC continued to operate on the principle that opportunities to become physically active should not depend upon which club somebody supports, where they live or their ability to pay. The CIC's aim remained to use the shared identity of sport to make physical activity more accessible, engaging and socially motivating.

The work undertaken during 2025 therefore primarily represented a period of development, consultation and infrastructure building. The CIC invested in creating the technology, partnerships and delivery model required to test whether the community benefit demonstrated through its earlier pilots could be delivered at greater scale from 2026 onwards.

PART 2 - CONSULTATIONS WITH STAKEHOLDERS
The company stakeholders are the participants of the initiative , company directors, community organisations such as local councils, countrywide sport clubs, software developers and sportscast industry.
Fans To 5K engaged with sports clubs, community organisations and wider stakeholders to understand how the programme could complement existing provision and reach supporters who may not otherwise engage with traditional physical activity opportunities.

By the end of 2025, the application was ready for launch and Fans To 5K had held conversations with 12 sports clubs about involvement in the next stage of delivery, planned to begin in January 2026. The app was released on iOS and Android on 22nd December 2025, marking an important transition from the CIC's earlier small-scale pilots towards testing a multi-club, digitally enabled model.
