SUDBURY GOLF CLUB LIMITED
NOTES TO THE ABRIDGED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2026

1. General Information

Sudbury Golf Club Limited is a company limited by shares incorporated and registered in the United Kingdom. The registered number of the company is 00165150. The registered office of the company is Bridgewater Road, Wembley, London, HA0 1AL which is also the principal place of business of the company. The nature of the company's operations and its principal activities are set out in the Directors' Report. The financial statements have been presented in Pound (£) which is also the functional currency of the company.

2. Summary of Significant Accounting Policies

The following accounting policies have been applied consistently in dealing with items which are considered material in relation to the company's financial statements.

Statement of compliance
The financial statements of the company for the financial year ended 31 March 2026 have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of FRS 102 Section 1A (Small Entities) and the Companies Act 2006.

Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis and under the historical cost convention.

Turnover

Turnover comprises income from membership subscriptions, green fees, bar and catering sales, competition fees, room hire, locker rentals, pro shop sales and other income arising from the company’s ordinary activities. Turnover is stated net of VAT and trade discounts.

Membership subscriptions and other income received in advance are deferred and recognised over the period to which the relevant membership, access or service relates.

Income from green fees, bar and catering sales, competition fees, room hire, locker rentals and pro shop sales is recognised when the relevant goods or services are supplied.

Rental or licence income not arising from the company’s ordinary trading activities is recognised within other operating income over the period to which it relates.

Tangible assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are stated at cost or at valuation, less accumulated depreciation. The charge to depreciation is calculated to write off the original cost or valuation of tangible assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives as follows:

Land and buildings freehold - 2% - 10% Straight line
  Plant and machinery - 5% - 33% Straight line
Fixtures, fittings and equipment - 5% - 20% Straight line

The carrying values of tangible fixed assets are reviewed annually for impairment in periods if events or changes in circumstances indicate the carrying value may not be recoverable.

Leasing and hire purchases
Tangible assets held under leasing and Hire Purchases arrangements which transfer substantially all the risks and rewards of ownership to the company are capitalised and included in the Balance Sheet at their cost or valuation, less depreciation. The corresponding commitments are recorded as liabilities. Payments in respect of these obligations are treated as consisting of capital and interest elements, with interest charged to the Profit and Loss Account.

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value. Stocks are determined on a first-in first-out basis. Cost comprises expenditure incurred in the normal course of business in bringing stocks to their present location and condition.  Full provision is made for obsolete and slow moving items. Net realisable value comprises actual or estimated selling price (net of trade discounts) less all further costs to completion or to be incurred in marketing and selling.

Trade and other debtors
Trade and other debtors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts except where the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases the receivables are stated at cost less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.

Borrowing costs
Borrowing costs relating to the acquisition of assets are capitalised at the appropriate rate by adding them to the cost of assets being acquired. Investment income earned on the temporary investment of specific borrowings pending their expenditure on the assets is deducted from the borrowing costs eligible for capitalisation. All other borrowing costs are recognised in profit or loss in the period in which they are incurred.

Trade and other creditors
Trade and other creditors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method, unless the effect of discounting would be immaterial, in which case they are stated at cost.

Employee benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. The assets of the scheme are held separately from those of the company in an independently administered fund.

Taxation
Current tax represents the amount expected to be paid or recovered in respect of taxable profits for the financial year and is calculated using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantially enacted at the Balance Sheet date.

Ordinary share capital
The ordinary share capital of the company is presented as equity.

3. Significant accounting judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty

In the application of the company’s accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be relevant. Actual results may differ from these estimates.

The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.

The estimates and assumptions which have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment to the carrying amount of assets and liabilities are as follows:

The directors have reviewed the asset lives and associated residual values of all the fixed assets, and have concluded that asset lives and residual values are appropriate.

4. Going concern

At the time of approving the financial statements, the directors have a reasonable expectation that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, the directors continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.

In making this assessment, the directors have considered the year-end balance sheet position, cash resources, post year-end trading, forecast results for the period of at least twelve months from the date of approval of the financial statements, the timing of subscription income received in advance, and the scheduled repayments due under bank loans and hire purchase agreements.

For the year ended 31 March 2026, the company reported a profit before tax of £102,456 and net current assets of £4,951. Current creditors include significant deferred subscription income, which relates principally to amounts received in advance and does not represent an immediate cash outflow.

Based on this assessment, the directors consider that the company has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
