COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

NORTHERN COMMUNITY POWER COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 07504738 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2026

Company activities and impact

The princpal activity for the year was the investigation and assessment of the feasibility of installing solar panels on an indistrial roof-space in North Tyneside. The study, commenced in 2024 and completed in November 2025, was funded by the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub (NE&YNZH). The project demonstrated the technical and financial viability of the proposal. Complexities in the ownership and occupation of the site ultimately resulted in being unable to secure the necessary commitment of all parties to enable the proposal to move to implementation. Whilst that outcome was disappointing, valuable experience was gained and lessons learned that will be of benefit to future projects. Development of a web presence with dedicated email capability during 2025 established a more professional public face and enabled increased awareness of NCP and community energy. Significant costs, funded from prior years' accumulated surpluses, are an investment in future capability. Similarly, investigation of funding possibilities led to establishment of a separate Commmunity Benefit Society, which will be of value to future opportunities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Discussions and information exchanges with community groups in North East England, NE&YNZH, Community Energy England, Co-operatives UK, community energy organisations in East Sussex and Grimsby, owners and operators of industrial sites in North Tyneside.

No remuneration was received
