The company has generated funds by organising the town bonfire night, an italian evening and a quiz night. Funds raised were used to support Barnard Castle Town Council organise the christmas lights and for the purchase of additional christmas lights. The committee helped the Town Council with the annual switch on event of the christmas lights. The Market Cross in the town and a memorial tree is lit to mark special occasions throughout the year. The committee members organise gardening events around the town to maintain and enhance the appearance for residents and visitors. The christmas lights give great joy to residents and visitors and help to bring more customers to the shops over the Christmas period, while the bonfire night has grown to be a major event for the town to safely enjoy the fireworks display.
The Chairperson of the CIC attends 4 Town Council meetings held throughout the year to discuss the christmas lights. These comments are then brought back to the regular CIC committee meetings.
