Principal activities of the company

London Spirit (The Hundred) Limited (‘the Company’/‘London Spirit’) was incorporated by the England and Wales Cricket Board Limited (‘ECB’) as a wholly-owned subsidiary to manage the participation of the men’s and women’s teams in the Hundred. The Hundred is a professional franchise 100-ball cricket competition involving eight men's and eight women's teams located in major cities across England and Wales. London Spirit play their home match days at Lord’s Cricket Ground. In January 2025, the ECB entered a period of exclusive negotiation with third parties. Following a closed auction process, the ECB accepted an offer to sell 49% of its shares in the Company to Cricket Investor Holdings Limited (‘CIHL’) and gifted the remaining 51% shareholding to the current competition host venue owner, Marylebone Cricket Club (‘MCC’). The sale transaction completed on 28 July 2025 with MCC now being the majority shareholders holding 51% shares and CIHL holding the remaining 49%. Operational control remained with the ECB to deliver the 2025 competition, transferring to MCC and CIHL post competition. In the prior year under ECB ownership, the Company’s turnover was derived from a cost-plus mark-up return on operational costs. With the new ownership in 2025, the operating model has changed, and the Company now generates its own revenues and costs. The Company is responsible for overseeing all on-field activities for the men’s and women’s teams in each competition year. The ECB incurs all operational, marketing and promotional costs to deliver the competition centrally. London Spirit’s business is very seasonal with most of the income and expenditure occurring over the summer each year, during the approximately month-long competition. In the 2025 season of the Hundred, the London Spirit women’s team finished the group stages in 3 place with 5 wins and 3 losses from 8 matches. The team therefore progressed to the Eliminator stage, where they lost to Northern Superchargers by 42 runs. The London Spirit men’s team finished in 7th place, with 3 wins from 8 matches.

Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 December 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.
