The company acts as managing agent in relation to the collection and administration of service charge monies attributable to the estate.
Service charge monies and reserve/sinking fund contributions are held on behalf of the tenants and proprietors and do not belong beneficially to the company.
Accordingly, service charge receipts and payments are excluded from the Company's Statement of Income and Retained Earnings and are accounted for separately in service charge accounts prepared for the occupiers of the estate.
Amounts held on behalf of tenants are recognised as assets and corresponding liabilities in the balance sheet to the extent that cash, debtors and creditors exist at the reporting date.
