The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).
The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated.

Basis of preparing the financial statements
Going Concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a basis other than going concern.
At the balance sheet date, the Company continued to hold its trading assets and liabilities. However, following the year end, all of the Company's trade and assets were transferred to TECHNIA, a sister company, or sold to third parties as part of the Group's strategic plans for the business.
As a result of these transactions, the Company no longer undertakes trading activities and does not expect to generate future trading revenues. However, the Company expects to receive royalty income from third party over the next few years under existing contractual arrangements.
At the date of approval of these financial statements, the Company retains a limited number of employees and obligations under an office lease. The costs associated with these arrangements are recharged to TECHNIA and are expected to cease once the remaining employee contracts and lease commitments have ended.
The directors intend that the Company will continue to operate only to administer its remaining contractual obligations, including the receipt of royalty income, before becoming dormant. The longer-term intention is to wind up the Company once these matters have been concluded.
Accordingly, the directors consider that it is not appropriate to prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis, as the Company has ceased trading and there is no intention to undertake future trading activities. As required by UK accounting standards, the director has prepared the financial statements on a basis that the company is no longer a going concern. The directors consider that the carrying values of the assets and liabilities are not materially different from the amounts expected to be realised and settled and therefore no adjustments have been made as a result of ceasing to apply the going concern basis.

Revenue
Revenue is recognised to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the Company and the revenue can be reliably measured. Revenue is measured as the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. The following criteria must also be met before revenue is recognised:
Sale of goods
Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
the Company has transferred the significant risks and rewards of ownership to the buyer;
the Company retains neither continuing managerial involvement to the degree usually associated with ownership nor effective control over the goods sold;
the amount of revenue can be measured reliably;
it is probable that the Company will receive the consideration due under the transaction; and
the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably.
Rendering of services
Revenue from a contract to provide services is recognised in the period in which the services are provided in accordance with the stage of completion of the contract when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
the amount of revenue can be measured reliably;
it is probable that the Company will receive the consideration due under the contract;
the stage of completion of the contract at the end of the reporting period can be measured reliably; and
the costs incurred and the costs to complete the contract can be measured reliably.
Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.
Tangible fixed assets
| Plant and machinery | - |
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost (or deemed cost) or valuation less accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses. Cost includes costs directly attributable to making the asset capable of operating as intended.
Investments in subsidiaries
Investments in subsidiary undertakings are recognised at cost.

Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Debtors
Short-term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any impairment. Loans receivable are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost using the effective method, less any impairment,
Foreign currencies
Foreign currency translations are translated in the functional currency using the spot exchange rates at the dates of the transactions.
At each period end, foreign currency monetary items are translated using the exchange rate at the date of the transaction and non-monetary items measured at fair value are measured using the exchange rate when fair value was determined.
Foreign exchange gains and losses resulting from the settlement of transactions and from the translation at period end exchange rates of monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies are recognised in the profit and loss except when deferred in other comprehensive income as qualifying cash flow hedges.
Leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to profit or loss on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions are charged to the profit and loss account for the year in which they are payable to the scheme. Differences between the contributions payable and the contributions actually paid in the year are shown as either accruals or prepayments at the year end.
