| NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS |
| for the Year Ended 31 March 2026 |
| 1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
| Hedley James Limited is a |
| 2. | STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE |
| These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS102 Section 1A for small entities. There were no material departures from that standard. |
| 3. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
| Basis of preparing the financial statements |
| The principle accounting policies adopted in the preparation of the financial statements are set out below. These have remained unchanged from the previous year and have been consistently applied within the same accounts. |
| The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of freehold property. |
| Revenue recognition |
| Revenue reflects sales receipts in respect of food, drink and venue hire, stated net of value added tax. Revenue is recognised on the date the event takes place. |
| Tangible fixed assets |
| Depreciation is charged so as to allocate the cost of assets less their residual value over their estimated, useful economic live, using the straight line method. |
| The estimated useful lives range as follows: |
| Plant and machinery | - | 4 years straight line |
| Fixtures and fittings | - | 4 years straight line |
| Computer equipment | - | 3 years straight line |
| The assets' residual values, useful lives and depreciation methods are reviewed and adjusted prospectively if appropriate, or if there is an indication of a significant change since the last reporting date. |
| Gains and losses on disposals are determined by comparing the proceeds with the carrying amount and are recognised in the Statement of Comprehensive Income. |
| No depreciation is provided on freehold property. It is company practice to maintain these assets in a continual state of good repair and to make improvements on an ongoing basis, therefore the directors consider the lives of these assets are so long and residual values (based on price prevailing at the time of acquisition or subsequent revaluation) are so high, that their depreciation is insignificant. Any temporary surplus or deficits are charged to the revaluation reserve when deemed permanent. |
| Stocks |
| Stocks have been valued at the lower of cost and estimated selling price, less costs to sell after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. |
| Deferred taxation |
| Deferred taxation is provided on the liability method to take account of timing differences between the treatment of certain items for accounts purposes and their treatment for tax purposes. |
| Tax deferred or accelerated is accounted for in respect of all material timing differences. |

| 3. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued |
| Pension costs |
| The company operates a defined contribution scheme for the benefit of its employees. Contributions payable are recognised in the profit and loss account when due. |
| Financial instruments |
| The following assets and liabilities are classified as financial instruments - trade debtors, trade creditor and bank loans. |
| Bank loans are initially measured at the present value of future payments, discounted at a market rate of interest, and subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method. |
| Trade debtors and trade creditors are measured at the undiscounted amount of the cash or other consideration expected to be paid or received. |
| Financial assets that are measured at amortised cost are assessed at the end of each reporting period for objective evidence of impairment. If objective evidence of impairment is found, an impairment loss is recognised in the statement of income and retained earnings. |
