Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Assets held under finance leases and hire purchase contracts are recognised as tangible fixed assets at the lower of their fair value and the present value of the minimum lease payments at inception. The corresponding liabilities are included in creditors. Finance charges are allocated over the period of the agreement so as to produce a constant periodic rate of interest on the remaining balance of the liability.

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when goods have been delivered to customers such that risks and rewards of ownership have transferred to them. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.
Basic financial instruments are recognised at amortised cost, except for investments in non-convertible preference and non-puttable ordinary shares which are measured at fair value, with changes recognised in profit or loss. Derivative financial instruments are initially recorded at cost and thereafter at fair value with changes recognised in profit or loss.
Current tax is recognised in respect of taxable profit for the current and prior periods and is measured using tax rates enacted or substantively enacted at the reporting date. Deferred tax is recognised in respect of timing differences at the reporting date. Deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that their recovery is probable.

At 31 December 2024, a deferred-tax liability of £270 was recognised. This reduced the profit for the year ended 31 December 2024 and shareholders’ funds at that date by £270.
